F1 2010

Well, the off-season has been pretty good so far. New teams, a Senna, new rules and the return of a legend. Will the championship live upto expectations? Will Legard still be doing his best to ruin Brundle's commentary efforts?
Will Big Howard have a good word to say about F1? Will people still act surprised when a driver makes a dumb move? Will people still look back at F1 in the 50s/60s/70s/80s through rose tinted glasses?
I'm looking forward to it, and I'm still trying to work out a way to seeing the Spa GP from beside the circuit, not the sofa.

Didn't I make some corny remark about Red Bull and wings a few weeks ago? Not seen that ad on telly for a while now!

So what did you miss during the whimpering, whinging & tears during 2007, the season when LH joined him & McL.
He has a problem with LH especially & McL to a lesser degree. The red mist problem we saw today needs people in white coats & time a darkened room to help him get his head fixed.
He is a damn good driver & has a car that could be a serious contender with a few more tweaks. But his LH problem throws all that out of the window & its Ferrari that are suffering; hence the "soft" words over the team radio today.

I saw all that childish behavior and I hated him for it. However after his season with Renault and thus far with Ferrari I thought he had matured a bit and I was starting to like him. He and Hamilton are the best drivers on the track and I was hoping for a good battle between fierce competitors. Alonso however has reconfirmed to me that he doesn't have the mental toughness to be champion. Though I don't prefer it, I'll take a driver being a jerk over being a baby any day of the week.

Are Red Bull getting frightened?
Can they sense that they won't have it all their own way?
I will certainly stop watching F1 if the engines are equalised anymore than they are. They already have to be 2.4 litre V8s, with further rules on V-angle, rev limits, and I think crank centre-line height. I wonder how they would respond to a suggestion of equalised aero packages!

There is even talk of 1.4 L V6 maybe but straight 4s, that is not F1 in my book.
Red Bull are basically asking for an even bigger advantage, by equalising the engines their aero package become even more of an gain.

Having won all but one of this season's pole positions weakens Mr. Horner's argument.

No points for pole.

Just got back from Silverstone. Anyone with tickets for the Beckets grandstand (1/2 to Club Silverstone + 1/2 to anyone who purchased them) is in for a real treat. I sat there for 1st practice this morning and you can see the whole of the Beckets/Maggots/Chapell complex and right down the Hanger striaght as far as the bridge. You can also now pick up the cars as the enter the new Abbey right hand corner all the way through to almost the end of the Wellington straight. There is almost too much to keep your eyes on. Fantastic.
For the second session I initially sat opposite the McLaren/Red Bull pits but you are now so far away from the pits (they've moved the grandstand back to create a massive run-off area along pit straight) that there is now no advantage to being there i.e without several thousand pounds of zoom lens you can't really see into the pit garages anymore. So I then legged it (tough in the heat although 13 years in Brisbane has helped me there) back around to the entrance to Beckets and managed to get a trackside view of the cars as they hit the right hander there. If you've never stood there before - treat yourself - as there is nothing I can think of on 4 wheels to match the sight (& possibly more so the sound) of an F1 car in full flight through these series of bends.
It was busy today so I'm expecting a sell-out tomorrow but I'll be aiming to watch Qualifying from the same Beckets trackside spot.
Cheers
Scott

Might give it a go myself tomorrow, thanks for the tip Scott. I've got tickets for Pits Straight for Sunday. Sad to hear about them moving back.

Pole position for Vettel - hope he can turn it into a win tomorrow.

Shouldn't be too difficult with the team making sure any bits that fail on his car eg the new front wing, are dragged off Webber's instead.

If the Red Bulls have reliability, then barring another almighty cock-up from Webber it'll be a very boring race for TV viewers.
I'm off to Duxford to relax while hearing a couple of dozen Merlins!

Not Vettel's season, but he's still in there. Nicely done by Webber.

Great race well done Mark, well done Lewis and Jensen.
Nice touch by Lewis on Sebastian in turn one.
The sooner Sebastian stops trying imitate MS the better he will be.

I'd love to see Kobyashi in a Ferrari, he may not finish every race, but he would be more entertaining than Massa at the moment.
Thought the new Silverstone much improved over the old one, promoted much better racing.

A truly greart race - and nice to see what goes around comes around (eh Alonso?)
It also pushes home the point just how good a champion Jenson has turned out to be. He was a true gent at Goodwood last weekend and the after race comments were a tribute to him. It would be great to see him do it again - but he has a real fight on his hands on that one.
Silverstone now looks good enough to tempt me for real.
Just need to be the right Motorway services at the right time next.

All Ferrari from start to finish, at least Vettel got a 3rd place out of it.

Blatant cheating by Ferrari don`t you think

Posted on: 25 July 2010 by Steve2701
While it may have been a Ferrari 1-2 they should have been in a different order! I'm willing to bet they get away with what were very obviously team orders.
Rules are obviously made to be broken @ the red team.

That is the worst team orders since Austria, the reason the no team orders rule was brought in.
It was an illegal order.
Joe public has been robbed of possibly a great race between the 2 drivers.
If this was a silver team they would probably been banned for the season by now.
