What are your Christmas day plans?

Seeing as The Nagger is taking both daughters to her mothers, I am likely to spend the day playing the entire Pink Floyd canon in the company of some decent wine.
Et tu?

Kirsty McColl and The Pogues on repeat. Our only concession to Xmas at home. Otherwise a 'normal' day for us.
I might try to thaw our frozen toilet. Joy.

Mike, sounds like you have good day planned. We normally keep a low profile at Christmas, just us as a family but this year we are hosting parents. Guess my hi-fi won't be seeing so much action.

Barricading the doors and windows to make sure the in-laws don't get in.

Just the 4 of us for Christmas day, a Barolo with the Turkey dinner and assorted other beverages , mainly alcoholic.
Our full family xmas day is the 4th of January, even then 2 of us our working 1/2 day.

It is going to be a DVD fest since I only have myself to please.
Lets see. Will start with 'Lord of the Rings' follow that up with 'The Godfather' set and I have been reserving 'Band of Brothers' on Blu-ray for Xmas. That should pass a fair wack of time.
To leaven this visual assault the trusty Naim system will be called on to work its way thru' a selection of boxed sets.

A quiet dinner of lamb chops, aspargus and oyster soup, with my wife and daughters, accompanied by the Immerseel Beethoven, then some beers with my brother who is visiting from Hawaii.
The Nightmare Before Christmas on Blu-ray to end the day.

Just the two of us for Christmas day - a long early-morning walk around a very frozen Derwent Water followed by the usual eating and drinking fest - picked up a nice bottle of Chateauneuf du Pape from Booths - then a snore in front of the gogglebox whilst SWMBO watches an old movie, then more food, drink etc. before slumping into bed.

A cup of tea
Then at 10 off to watch the fools swim in the sea at Lowestoft.
Then to parents for a fun day of arguments and bickering.
Mother had a nasty fall recently and dislocated her shoulder and shattered her Humerus. had surgery and is recovering slowly and grumpily. my father bears the brunt of her lack of humour. But i get to alleviate his burden tomorrow.
Joy Would prefer to watch the DVD's i hope santa is bringing and a hoped for CD.
Not sure if he will be bringing me a new T/T though.

No 3 daughter is comming this evening for 10 days.
Early morning walk tommorrow over Watership Down, then No 1 daughter plus husband and 3 year old grandson arriving for grand opening of presents followed by fun and games until lunch.
Snowman building in the afternoon, then board games in the evening - I notice Mrs D has already got the cards out and also Scattergories
Phone call sometime in the evening to daughter No 2 and her in-laws - they are getting together in Vernon BC and spending time at Silver Star in their ski "hut".
Lunch will be turkey and honey roast ham. Mrs D likes Asti, No1 likes Vouvrey, Son-in-law, No3 and me all like Nuits St George.
Boxing Day is used for recovery!
Cheers

I will be flying. Got a business class upgrade, so it should not be too bad. Hopefully they will give me one of those portable tablets and I will be able to watch a couple of movies. Taking off in the morning... I wonder if they will serve breakfast...with the time difference, it will be dark when I arrive. It will be nice to fly inside for a change. I'll give myself a shave and put the red coat in the suitcase. Better to keep a low profile, especially on that day. Don't want to deal with return requests. Done for the year.

Four mile walk around the neighbourhood trying without success to find an open baker. Coffee and Christmas biscuits to defrost.
Just about to crack the cork on a bottle of fizz, then get blinis out of the oven, ready to adorn smoked salmon and roe.
Later, loin of venison with potato dumplings, red cabbage, sprouts and carrots followed by a fresh fruit salad. Given main course, all candles will be then extinguished.
Looks like a couple of bottles of Pinot Noir (Franz Haas, Südtirol) and then probably a raid on the cellar.
Some very nice cheese on the board for later.
Have a good one!
