gosh what is this i see before me? single sided 200gm 45rpm's of Peter Gabriel 1-5, and Suzanne Vega? Something to give the Aro a good workout, methinks!

I have John Lee Hooker "The Healer" and Jethro Tull "Aqaulung" in those editions. Sound quality is simply excellent.

Munch, the sound quality is excellent, but the pressing quality is hit and miss. All the hype about Clarity Vinyl and they come noisy (through all 4 lps), dished or scratched. Classic Records are getting worse. Take a chance, but be prepared for hassle.

I have a knackered single-sided 45rpm Dave Brubeck 'Take Five'.

My dealer gave me it to use as a platter dust cover ...

What does dished mean in these circumstances?

Not flat ie concave or convex, on one side the edge is off the platter, the other side it rests on the edge, with the middle up in the air.

I have Tull Aqualung on 45rpm box set clarity from classic records. Superb sound with no probs whatsoever.

I already have the Coltrane - Blue Train which sounds wonderful.

Suzanne Vega's Beauty And Crime (in my humble opinion, her best album in the what - 20 years? that she's been recording) is on the way and eagerly awaited.

Others may follow, but they'll be a rare treat.

Nice. I've got the 3, 4 & 5 (not so keen on 1 and 2, but Fripp's Exposure would be a good choice)and they all turned out great. I can also recommend the Armstrong/Ellington sets, the Coltrane Blue Trane and the Simon and Garfunkel Bridge over Troubled Water (which isn't half as schmaltzy as expected). If you like the Gabriel, I can stongly recommend Passion - this is only available at 33 1/3, but is excellent.

A waste of precious vinyl!

Willem, don't worry. They're all now deleted in any case!

If not sold the vinyl can easily be recycled though, can't it?

Sounds like sense to me!

Only kidding, get out there and buy this compelling format. So much the better for only being one sided, I suppose! That must really enhance the quality ...

They might be deleted but there are still shed loads on sale.

Hi Stu,

as it happens, I have a trade account with Classic's distributor in the UK so I can see the stock levels of those 45 rpm sets. As of the start of this month, there's not that many left (10 or 20 at most for certain titles, 1s and 2s for others). Of course, they could be in the dealer's stock rooms or moved en-route to Classic's new owner in Kansas.
