If CDs have been copied to hard drive, can this then go directly to HDX or Uniti?

Hi all,
I was wondering how straightforward it is to upload music to the Naim HDX and the Uniti. As I tried to get across in my thread question, once I have all my CD music transferred to my hard drive, if I chose to buy the HDX in the future - or even the Uniti - could I simply transfer the files across from my external hard drive to the Naim Hifi component??
Many thanks for your information.

No.
You 'share' them and the HDX or Uniti picks them up on the network.

The Uniti can not store music. It can select and play music made available from a PC or NAS by a UPnP server, or it can play music fed to it from the S/PDIF (or analogue) port of a PC.

While 'sharing' a drive is an option, is it possible to copy the contents of a drive to the HDX or NS0* Music Server builtin storage?

no.

Thanks for your advice.
How about this. Can the music, which is stored on my hard drive in *.wav (I think) be converted into a format recognised by a Naim HDX and then transfer the music files across???

Jon

In fact the answer is not a straight no.
If the original ripping has been done by a Naim server, you can transfer music to a Music Store on a shared external folder (NAS for example). Then if you connect another Naim server, it can take control of the Music Store and then, you can move the music back to the new server.
So, it is not impossible, but it is a matter of format and folder structure. So Naim doesn't allow it if it is not completely under control.
Note that you can't copy music, just move it.
But in your case, just share the PC folder and it will work the same. If you do not want to have the PC always on, move music to a NAS.

Not sure about HDX but nServe will pick up *.wav (or flac or aiff or mp3 or many others popular audio formats) from any network shares and transfer it across all network streamers.
