Nick Cave vinyl

Posted by: Nigel 66 on 08 January 2011

Hi

I have a few Nick Cave CDs that sound pretty good on my system, so I thought that I'd try some of his stuff on vinyl, and bought a copy of Nocturama (Mute records 2003).

Oh dear. I'm not sure whether I was just unlucky with my copy but what a shocking sound. Fussy, blurry and lots of distortion.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Are there any stand out vinyl pressings of any NC stuff?

Oh, and I know that he's not to everyone's taste, so not too many sarci comments like "all his stuff sounds like that", etc.

Thanks

Nigel

IMHO Nocturama is Cave's worst album Big Grin

Is it his worst recorded album? That might be more the answer the OP wanted.

I only have D.L.D. on vinyl and don't recall it being anything but good, even has an bonus 7" disc.

I like Dig on CD so might give the vinyl a listen.

That is not to say that it is bad, but it's a bit weak in comparrison to the former albums like "No More Shall We Part" and "The Boatman's Call".

Please note that I'm not talking about sound quality here.

I like "Dig Lazarus Dig" too!
