Snowball vandals

Posted by: Dungassin on 18 December 2010

Just been on Facebook and was reading a post from my youngest daughter. She answered their doorbell last night with our 2 year old granddaughter in tow, and they were both immediately pelted with snowballs by a bunch of teenagers. Frightened the little girl and knocked my daughter's glasses off (luckily they didn't break).

Morons. Not funny IMO. And no - she hadn't been antagonising them (didn't even know who they were).

Worth reporting to your local Police. This can be dangerous and 'could' be considered assault.

I know that in England snow can be seen as a novelty but in areas of the world were it is a winter certainty this kind of behavior would not be tolerated.

I asked my wife (born and raised here in Canada) and she said the only time she'd heard of this happening in her hometown was between teenagers snowballing their 'friends' houses, never strangers.

Afterall, if some of my neighbours were 'attacked' like this, the teens would be tracked down and 'shown' how unpleasant snow and ice can be ...

Not funny here in N.Ireland either gritting lorries get attacked in Derry, second one in a fortnight to have the windows smashed & the driver injured.

I feel a bit like that. We actually live more than 100 miles from our daughter, so any Police report is down to her, but knowing the usual local plod "enthusiasm" for dealing with vandalism, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Every time it snows here we have instances of local youths snowballing every house they pass. No point chasing them, they're always well away before you could get to them. Probably the same idiots as those who went around last year destroying all the panel fencing (is that what you call it?) framing the "short cut" through the OAP bungalows.

You'd think from the problem that I and my daughter(s) live in "bad" areas, but that is far from the case.
