Another publication that completely missed the album of the year...

I haven't bought much music this year and I'm going to be a real pretentious twat but Kanye West really?
A quote from the review, whats this guy on? I've spoken more intelligent and insightful things while out of my mind on LSD.
"And yet for all the reasons it should be an overblown folly, Fantasy is an idiot-savant smash, an example of a musician overreaching, yet triumphing through dumb bravado and an imagination gloriously unfettered by logic. Kanye actually set out to make the album of the year when nobody listens to albums anymore, much like he wants to be Michael Jackson in a generation where “stars” are also the illiterate jackasses in our Twitter feeds. His attempt makes MBDTF both admirable and oddly relatable: After all, 2010 was defined by our social-networking self-absorption, and our belief that anyone can be a superhero. And every superhero needs his theme music"
The bolds bit tells you all we need to know about the reviewer and who he is speaking to and does not social mean sharing things like ideas, likes and feelings similar to what we do around here?

If Rolling Stone Mag and this chart put Kanye first, then maybe I should listen to it more closely to find out why they do!?
(troubling question on a Christmasday...)

John Grant Queen of Denmark - no 1 album in Mojo magazine 2010.

Not a very 'different' list but as always it makes me listen to a few things that might have passed me by (Frightened Rabbit anyone?).
I am going to have to say I bought Queen of Denmark on the good vibes from this forum and find it weak after the first few songs. It is just a bit gay for me too, this from someone that loves Anthony and The Johnsons!
Oh, and no 2 on that list, The Walkmen, was eagerly anticipated and just let me cold.
Thank goodness for our variety of tastes!

The Onion is a satirical magazine. Hopefully this clears up the "best of list".
Thanks,

Yes The Onion is a satirical magazine but the Onion AV Club isn't.

Sorry about that. Thought it was "an Onion" piece.
