The "What are you drinking ?" thread seems to have completely disappeared.

Shame really.

...and we didn't hear, "Last Orders!" Confused

Chilean Merlot Valle Central

Smooth & mellow, Soft, ripe & fruity... but that's enough about me Winker
The wine is a bit too cheap and plonky for my sensitive taste, just about drinkable when warmed to room temporature (when the room is warm that is) ...had to move it upstairs near the airing cupboard (too cold for it in the kitchen) and red wine tastes awful when chilled imho.

3litre box from Sainsbury's, at £14.69

I actually stuggled to drink the second glass, that's how good it is! Roll Eyes

(At least it'll last me for a while)

The usual reason

Why? Does it cost bandwidth or something if a thread sits without being physically closed?

Why 48 days? 60 at least is 2 months (almost ish).

Been building sand castles with the kids all afternoon, all that sun and beach thing is really draining and requires a bit of self medication from the local ABC wine store.

Starting off with a 2004 Duckhorn Merlot which will be followed by a 2006 Opus One. A bit young you might say, but hey ...

Not regurgitated, and I simply do not, but I felt I was up for a nine mile round trip to find some Zywiec [Jiviets] from Tesco across the River [Severn] - only three bottle, so as to keep the cost near a fiver - Tesco is dear: three times £1.71!

Last enjoyed in Poland in October! And my right thumb survived the treatment of riding the bike, though one brake is well out of adjustement! The weird saddle angle is rather comfortable. Decided to not do anything about the idiot who could so easily have done more than make my right wrist and knee go black! It takes too long. Sumary but accurate justice is worthwhile. Justice delayed - accurate or not - is not actually justice at all, so ..'ck it!

PS: Back to work after visiting the doc on Monday, and plan to watch a veejo after this!

Georges, we followed your story as you shared the details on the forum.
Your decision is very wise. It is strongly supported by various levels of logic, rationality and values. Overall, it is consistent with some of the most important rules of life and also your Christian values.

Carpe Diem.

Nice label Howard. 2 years ago I had lunch at Beyerskloof on a day that was was hot, still & so dead & quiet that you felt that you could hear the heat. (Hows the snow & ice today)
We shared a bottle of the regular Pinotage on the patio under the shade, good food & outstanding wine - nice.

We decided to pick up 6 bottles & went for a tasting - as you must.
I spotted a Pinotage "Diesel", I had never heard of it, but was attracted by the name; seems it was the owners dog name & its his picture is on the label. The price was high, even if converted to GBP, but especially so for SA & at a winery.
One sip, then more to be sure to be sure - as you must - wow, awesome, 6 bottles please.

Mike, you have got me reminiscing now. When I worked for De Beers Marine we spent many days touring the Cape Winelands. We would spend the most relaxing afternoons at Boschendal enjoying "Le Pique Nique", and we often stayed at Zevenwacht for a couple of nights. Eikendal was one of our favourite vineyards, little known over here but fabulous tasting wines. Jordan was another good one, and also Neethlingshof.

You have set me off now - there are so many wonderful places to visit there!

Agreed Mark, just got back from a tour of north & mid Drakensberg, battlefields & St Lucia (coast), then up north for 10 days in and around Kruger area.

To keep it on topic, I found some Thelema 2008 Cab Sav. Bought 4 bottles at R220 each, it was expensive, but what the hell. Didn't bring any home. The last bottle disappeared while watching a couple of hyena going up & down the river next to our bungalow deck giving us a great rendition of the usual hoo-op & he-he-he calls. Nice.

We raised a glass of Corton 2001 Drouhin last night to the memory of Julian Brind MW who died unexpectedly from a heart attack on Sunday, far too young.

You almost certainly don't know Julian's name, but pretty much everyone in the UK wine trade (and further afield) was touched by this great gentle-man's erudition, enthusiasm and encyclopaedic knowledge. I know I was. If you have ever enjoyed drinking a wine purchased at Waitrose, then in some small way, so were you.

A sad loss. RIP Julian.

Not brought by Santa, but I thank my friend Stephen for this beautiful wine we could never afford and which went beautifully with the turkey yesterday:

We had a perfectly acceptable £10 Barolo from Morrisons, went well with the Turkey meal.
