I'm sure it's a really terrible thing to warrant it.

We tried an English red, from the Dorking, Vineyards last night.
Denbies Redlands 2009. £7.95.
Not bad, good colour and taste but a disappointingly short after taste. Not sure if that's the correct phrase.

I tried Denbies whites, quite nice, but no cigar.
At that price you should expect better.
But English wine needs support then maybe we will get some better pricing with higher volumes.
Re the red: I would add its disappointingly short of sun in Dorking to make a good red, reflected in the 11.5% abv.

Last night - a rather fine dinner accompanied by:
2009 IZT Tzapel - Rainoldi (Turbot with bay leaf, beetroot mousse & horseraddish foam)
2009 Ribolla Gialla - Oscar Sturm (Artichoke quiche with quail and carrot & onion chutney)
2008 IGT Chardonnay - Tormaresca (Black roll with salmon and dill)
2008 DOC Dolcetto D'Alba - Nada Fiorenzo (Tartlet filled with lentils and cotechino with a potato sauce)
2007 IGT Merlot - Planeta (Duck in a merlot and cherry sauce with celeriac purée)
2003 Merlino - Pojer e Sandri (Chocolate variation, including an exquisite dark chocolate zabaglione)
Assorted Spumante, mainly from Ferrari and some French fizz (by which time provenance seemed not to matter), I think it all ended with a single malt Ardbeg Uigeadail

But 1997 vintage. To honour The Archers 60th Anniversary episode.

At least no one actually died in the Archers, though a character may have left the stage/recording studio ...
Personally I would have prefer Daveeed to have exited stage left ...

First and foremost, as a 'newbie', I would like to say hello and a Happy New Year to one and all.
As to what I'm drinking. Well, tonight my tipple is Corryvreckan from the Ardbeg distillery. Not my favourite Arbeg but a rewarding whisky in its own right.

BTW we need to sort out a listening session before too long.
Cheers
