Shame about Kubica , moral don't hit 300+ year old church walls very unforgiving.
Maybe we can see how good Senna really is?

How long before ALL drivers have very restrictive extra curricular activities clauses in their contracts.
Seems every some year F1 and MGP pilots manage to injure themselves such that it affects their championship chances.

Great graphics from McLaren.

Latest reports say all his injuries are on his right side, and that the car swiped a wall before hitting the unprotected end of a crash barrier. This penetrated the car, a left-hand drive Fabia, and so explains his right leg, arm and hand injuries. He'll be a fair few weeks recovering from this. At least he has big balls and so should be ok on his comeback.

Shocking news, like him as a driver and wish him all the best.
Posted on: 06 February 2011 by BigH47
Apparently there was some concern about him losing his hand, that seems to have been allayed.
Kubica may be out for the year as it may take that amount of time to get full use of the hand back.
I believe it's the same sides he injured a few years back in a road crash and it was pinned then.

Any way I wish him  all the best.

Another picture, but this one almost makes me shake. I hope the organisers of the rally are prosecuted for this.

They have been trying to prosecute the PM for years of rumpy pumpy with under age bimbo's
What chance an organising committee

My picture is better than yours

How did he survive? In side view of Kubica's car.

EDIT

This a picture on Audi R8 apparently was mislabeled on Twitter , and forwarded by my son and posted by me. Appologies.

BTW this guy survived too BTW

I don't believe that is the interior of a proper rally car.

Standard steering wheel, standard instrument dials, standard seat, no cage, no door bars.

Oh, and deployed airbags. Yeah, right.

Smelling of bovine excrement, methinks.

It's a super 1600 spec car. Picture came from a twitter feed by GP update, would they have got it that wrong? Even top rally cars have to keep the standard dash top and surround(they can change the gauges), only the navigator has a speed pilot or equivalent.
Saying that there does seem to be a lacking of any roll cage in that picture.

I've tried to find S1600 car specs but to no avail.

You are right John see my edit to original post

Standard seat and a floor mat!!

Kubica is out of intensive care now, so that's that worry out of the way. How long does it take the body to replace five pints of blood?

I never doubted your intentions BigH, the chances of another pic of Armco intrusion must be fairly slim though!

Some friends( a nurse and fireman) of Sally's would regale us at dinner with tales of people brought into the ER with sections of armco through them, tops of heads coming off with crash helmets etc etc.
I 'm pretty sure they were probably as accurate as that picture.

Ok, I know that they've used slightly different zooms in the two videos in the following link, but I think they still put across the huge difference in performance between fast sports cars and pure F1 cars: http://iedei.wordpress.com/201...ow-fast-are-f1-cars/ Watch the first video all the way through. Tony

Even as one who knows that is still an amazing set of videos.

There really is no way to convey just what an F1 car can do, only maybe a 2 seater would come anywhere near close.

Of course driving one would do it, but there are not many and certainly no joe public have any any chance of getting a F1 say round Paddock at Brands at anything much passed a crawl.

Some of the TV shots of multi car saloon fast sports car and F1 car starting a different times on circuit  can be quite impressive.

Her's one from Top Gear  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21_JCx3_vlc

As an aside it's seems there may be a possibility of pilot overload this year ,
Posted on: 14 February 2011 by Tony Lockhart
Pilot overload? If a dopey twonk like me can cope with 12 buttons on the steering wheel, flappy paddles, three modes of gearbox, and 370 torques, Alonso, Schuey and friends will be fine! They can only use the movable rear wing at one point on the track, and only if they're close behind another driver. The kers didn't cause problems before. Is there something else new? Tony
Posted on: 15 February 2011 by Naijeru
I don't think there'll be pilot overload but the movable rear wing is a really stupid idea. Let's see if it works.
Posted on: 15 February 2011 by Tony Lockhart
I quite like the moveable rear wing idea. Anything that overcomes the silly problems that frontrunners have passing back markers is fine by me. We've lost too many good fights due to the turbulence. However, it might all go Pete Tong! Tony

Just saw the new Senna movie, it was AMAZING! Senna was an even greater driver than I remember him being.
