If smilies offend so much

What about fecking txt spk? That really pisses me off. And some professor somewhere last week was apparently proposing it should be taught in schools as a legitimate form of shorthand.
For me smilies are acceptable as a substitute for body language but txt spk is not on.

Mike,
Do I take it, therefore, that the £100 challenge is tongue-in-cheek? Your reluctance to employ the occasional smiley makes this less obviously clear, as I am sure you will appreciate. I think I have pointed out in the past that we can take forums too seriously at times as there are far more important things in life - on that last point I am sure we are at least agreed!
Bribe the Nagger - that's it! Surely a better idea for your £100 challenge! Perhaps she would find a suitable temporary 'bolt-hole' in exchange for some lolly!
I am sure the 300/Linn combo is superb though.
Cheers,
Jon

Wrong Jon, some people take themselves too seriously. Mick in particular. They only believe in one set of principles, theirs and god help those that don't comply.
I personally believe in freedom of speach and each to their own, within the reasons of laws etc Andy.

...ahh but then we put the music on, and all such thoughts were quickly banished..!!
Nigel,
Perhaps I didn't word my post particularly clearly. IMO we all, occasionally, lose sight of the fact that an internet bulletin board is not the high-watermark of communication some like to make it out to be. Consequently perspective is lost, such that if someone takes umbrage at the posting of another it becomes a matter of personal upset when it needn't be so.
Anyway, I must off, early start tomorrow!
Night night, chaps.
Cheers,
Jon
