Center for Allae
Posted by: Squawk Ident on 10 June 2008
Hi,
I´m looking for a new center for the Allae (which I don`t own now, but soon). Now I`ve got an older Audio Physic Yara Center. Does the n-Cent match to the Allae or is it to small? What about a KEF XQ50c? Or the Celsius from Audio Physic? The Axess doesn`t fit where I need to place it.
Does anyone have an opinion?
Thanx for the answer

Welcome Squawk.
I am running an n-Cent with my Allaes, and am happy with the result.
The biggest factor in presentation will be what is being used to amplify the center channel.
I am using a single channel from a NAP140 to good effect and integrates well with the main fronts (allae via NAP250).
Even though I have crappy old speakers for rears and no sub, I don't see the need to upgrade these others channels due to the fantastic job being done up front!
Cheers
Pete

Squawk Ident,
Although the n-Cent uses different drive units, it's still very much a Naim speaker and matches the Allaes well. I find it interesting that the n-Cent and n-Sat use such different drive units (that ring tweeter for example) and yet still have that recognizably Naim freshness about them.
The Axess is, of course, better in every way, but then one would hope it would be when considering its cost! You could almost have 3 n-Cents for a new Axess.

Thank you for the answers. Actually, that`s what I wanted to here. I will test the n-cent when I have my Allae`s.
@PJT: I`m using a n-vi to amplify the center and rear channels and a 150x for the mainspeakers, because I`ve got the whole x-series for stereo too.
All the best
Thomas.

The n-cent will sound great. I have used it with the Arivas and NBL's and I'm feeling happy. I also use the n-vi for the center and rear amplication. I'm quite happy with less boxes and good surround.
