Agree - torn between Qute and some combination of the new Apple tv - dac and say a NaimSX or some such - simply because I need a good solid user interface (including Nat radio) that anyone in a Mac household can use. If Nain came up with something for the iPad etc - i'd go the Qute route immediately!

I use Mini and SuperNait. I really handy setup. You can enhance it with an external firewire/usb to SPDIF interface.

Been using it for a day now. Yes, absolutely terrific. I love the way that, when scrolling albums by a single artist, it "pushes" the cover art of the previous album off the screen at the last minute, just as the last track also scrolls away. Very clever.

Is there a "cover flow" view? I can't find one.

This is what the n-stream app should be.

I am loving the iPad remote app as well. I can access music through the Apple TV 1G as well as the Apple TV 2G. The iPhone version of the remote was nice, the extra "real estate" and updated UI of the iPad really makes it a winner!

Can someone post some screenshots here, please? Will the hole iPad screen be used to be able to see long titles, for example?

TIA

I'm trying really hard to wait for the second generation I-Pad...this thread isn't making it any easier!

Absolutely. As long as you dont load it with movies and a large music library the low-end iPad model is great. Apps and books dont use much space.

And with Airplay coming in november it is even better. I've been running the beta and it's so nice sitting with ipad and using stuff like the Spotify-app or our local on-demand-radio app playing wireless out over the system.

I even have my own DIY Qute in the bedroom with an AirportExpress and the old Nait 2 acting as Airplay-system. When the HDX gets back I'll try to find an UPnP-client for the iPad to play from the HDX out over Airplay to the Nait ...

Why?

I the last few months i've purchased an NDac, Powerline, HiFace, and upgraded my Totems so my poor Naim bank account is dry...Plus i already have an itouch and iphone 4 so i don't really "need" an i-pad at the moment.
I still want one though! Smile

I am in the same boat. But only so I can pick up a 1stGen 3G version on the cheap.

Played with my buddies last night for a few hours on his iTunes set-up using the new remote app. Very slick.

I cant wait to use this with Foobar when the dev fixes the Remote2.0 version.

Xmas present..... yes!

DIY Qute

I like it..... Airports and old Naits. So good.

I just wish I could pull off my DIY Naimnet install with a Serve for my nDAC in my main room, then Qute's in the kitchen, office, back yard, and a Uniti in the bedroom.

Silly question: can the current HDX iPod app be run on the iPad? I expect yes. Anyone doing it?

Hi Sandy8 - yes, you really DO need an iPad. And soon. I've had mine for a couple of months now, and use it all the time. You'll find dozens of apps to use, the Apple Remote, and you can also run N-Serve on it. Don't wait - get one soon. I think London Drugs is open until 10:00.....

Yes you do...mine now goes everywhere and has replaced my mbp for all but the most specialised programs. It is the perfect control point / diary / notetaker / browser / media player. Films look great and the remote app looks fab. Simply brilliant.

Yes, the best portable entertainment device I've ever used. I use it on flights all the time. Fabulous picture quality from either downloaded purchases or from ripped DVDs.

Posted on: 07 October 2010 by pcstockton
