ortofon mc 10

I've just been given on of these and thought I might give it a try.

Does anyone know what board (K, S, E) works best with it?

TIA

I ended up putting in K boards, as I'd been meaning to try these again with the XX1L anyway.

I was interested to see what the MC10 was like because since I got the XX1L I've listened to less and less vinyl. I'd even got to the stage where I took out the boards altogether and listened just to CDs. (Since I had my amps recapped CD has sounded staggeringly good.)

Anyway, I put the K boards in and listened to Chelsea Hotel on New Skin (what happened to be to hand). Dull, shut in not particularly involving. Ok, maybe the cartridge needs to warm up, but I need to get to bed some time soon.

Next I dig out the same track on CD while I'm fitting the MC10. Immediately better, more focus, more immediate, attack on strings, makes more sense musically. Thinking how much I could get for my Elite Rock on Yahoo Auctions at this time.

Finally go back to vinyl and the MC10. Wow. Music. Way ahead of the XX1L, and diificult to choose between vinyl and CD. By this time it was midnight and I needed sleep.

I will have another listen tonight and see waht I think.

From the guarantee cert. I found out that the MC10 dates from 1987.
