Internet vinyl suppliers, the good the bad & the..........

Posted by: lecorb on 13 December 2008

Ordered vinyl from 3 suppliers recently
The good: audiophile-vinyl,4 Albums, good communication, despatched on time, well packaged and no hidden charges for carraige, payment a bit of a pain, bank transfers
The bad; Stamford Audio, ordered 4 Albums, unable to get 1 of them, shipped 2 of the others and charged the wrong price for 1 of them, when the 3rd and last album arrived it was the wrong one. They corrected the incorrect charge and asked me to post back the wrong album, couldn't be bothered, just kept it
The..........Music.com ordered 2 Albums 1 was supposed to be the Who live at Leeds, the Who by numbers arrived, informed them of error 1 week later still no response.

Anyone else had similar experiences

I have found with Stamford Audio it's best to phone them first to make sure they have the Lps in stock. If you are buying a few Lps at the same time even though their web site is very good there is a good chance of not having all the records you require. In my experience "Diverse" is similar too.

Also as munch says have a good look around.

I do get my toys on Amazon.de
Never a problem.
Delays have been treaten fast and clean.
For acoustic and electronic indy my experience says yes to Dotshop.se
Again a clean and fast service at human prices.
Now call it.

I usually buy USA pressings at acoustic sounds because they have a huge catalog and they work very well, never had a problem with them.

I Also buy from eil.com and elusive disc and they are ok.

If there's a good deal at Ebay you should also buy from there, but don't forget to see the seller ratings.
