n-Vi - cant turn on/off with remote.

Posted by: james n on 07 October 2009

My n-Vi has decided to stop responding to on / off commands via the remote. It switches on and off normally via the power button and responds to all other commands. Different remotes, powering on and off via the mains switch all make no difference. Anyone any ideas before it takes a trip back to Naim (the front panel display has slowly been getting worse and now is unusable)

TIA

Not done the factory settings bit but tried everything else. I'll give it a go. Cheers Stu

Hi,

I had the same problem, obviously you have changed the remote-control-code by mistake, so you have to go back to "0" as follows:

1. Turn on the n-Vi
2. Make sure, that no Disc is inside
3. Press open
4. Press subtitle and keep it pressed
5. Press 1
6. Stop pressing the buttons.

Now it should work again.

All the best

BTW: My display had to be changed too. When did you buy your n-Vi? Mine is from September 2008. Strange, 2 different n-Vi´s but exactly the same problems.

Nice one - didnt think of that. Tried those steps and it didnt work but found this one

a) - Power up n-Vi to disc input, open drawer
b) - press white DVD button on remote once
c) - press and hold SUBT and OPEN buttons simultaneously
d) - with OPEN and SUBT held, press 1
n-Vi front panel will now show briefly that the DVD system code has been returned to 25
e) - press white AV button on remote once
f) - press and hold SUBT and OPEN buttons simultaneously
g) - with OPEN and SUBT held, press 1
n-Vi front panel will now show briefly that the AV system code has been returned to 27

And that sorted it. Hadnt worked since the weekend after the youngest kid decided to watch DVD's...

My n-Vi is 2006 vintage and has slowly been degrading since new. Now its unusable so time for a new one.

Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.

Cheers

I meant my n-Vi display was degrading. The n-Vi itself has been (apart from little quirks and the display failing) has been doing sterling service since new.
