I have posted to the main forum (now - Padded Cell) regarding the plan we had for meeting up next week at Pro Musica in Chicago. Just a small reminder.

The Doctor is visiting on Tuesday. Since I have only a fraction of his patience and attention to cable dressing detail, I have created little heaps of naim on the floor, plugged it all in so can warm up. There is no point me building the system up only for him to take it all apart again on Tuesday.
Time is somewhat critical on tuesday, because we have a **** *** to listen to. So having a warmed system is vitally important!
(sorry for the line noise there, dont know what happened.... clearly it meant to say "Naim DC1". Or something...)

You guys really need to hear what proper 24bit/96Khz transfers (including archived vinyl) can sound like.
There is probably nowhere else in the US (at least) that you can hear reproduced music like
in the basement room at ProMusica right now ... with Nagra VI digital, HDX and 552/500. Not to mention that
Ken has spent a few months creating hundreds of hours of hi-res music for replay ... from original live
master tapes of his own (Naim label or otherwise), to some amazing archival transfers off vinyl courtesy of a Naimed LP12 Superline combo. He even uses a HiCap for the Nagra digital DC power!
This place ought to be a mecca for anyone who wants to hear how digitally stored music has now come of age ...

There's still more analog software here than dig. Jon, we swapped speakers for Paul and he got a better show. I'm not saying but you can ask Paul if you're curious. Not up to your active DBLs anyway. We were more software and EQ intensive on your shorter and very fun visit. So now that you're warmed up and the new parts have burned in a some, how's the tunes?quote:Originally posted by jon honeyball:quote:Originally posted by Chris West NANA:

Its sounding fantastic. Still bedding in, still opening up. But a lot better than before. Lost a lot of the hf grittiness that was there.
i sent sheila and the boyz some flowers (for her) and a box of choccies (for them!) for their work. Seemed only fair. Got a lovely note in the post saying thanks!
