There is a thread going on the Hoffman forum that might help. Seems some people are having issues with some of the pressings

Thanks all. I am tempted but it is a lot for four albums

It is when you can buy the remastered CD's for 7/8 quid each and they come snap, crackle and pop free. If this stuff is coming from the US don't forget you might get stuffed for customer charges of £30 approx.

They can be bought individually (as 140g I think, not 180g) for way less. Either way, I'm tempted but all music budgets are totally blown on everything else that's been remastered/reissued in 2009.

Certainly all the other NY vinyl I've bought recently has been top quality.

Not that it helps your question re: sound quality, but might help out the pocket a bit.

I received my box set on Tuesday. I haven't listened to the eponymous Neil Young yet but the other three sounded pretty damn fine. I won't argue that the price is a little steep but the packaging is first rate and the the end product came out great. The vinyl is quiet, the nuance and musical details are there, and there is a real presence to the music.

As far as SQ/Value goes I am satisifed but that's just me.

One more chance to be fleeced before they get released in some kind of billion bit rate mega quality format like the Beatles just have.....

I am tempted as the cd re releases sound damn fine - so much good stuff at the moment, decisions decisions!
