ATC SCM 10 Active
Posted by: rgame666 on 20 January 2004
Hi,
Seeing as all the smaller ATC speakers appear to be being talked about right now, I thought I would ask if anyone has had experience with these speakers?
I guess it means I could sell my NAP150 and just get a DIN to dual XLR cable and run them from the NAC112.
Would be in a smallish room 10' X 15' X 9'
Regards
Richard

Andrew,
Thanks for the speedy reply.
It seems very difficult to listen to UK made hifi in the US and i don't think I have ever been offered a home demo of anything

Maybe they just don't like the look of me!!!
I guess one further question would be how do the SCM 12's comapre to the active 10's?
I am sooo confused.
Regards
Richard

You bet. SCM10 @80db. with tubes.
10X12 small room saved the day. But 48 watts push-pull amp with KT90 did just fine. I won't go any lower than 40 watts in the small room and I'd bet that not too many tube amps can keep the stuff together at high SPL. I was surprised that the amp held up well with the speakers. ( normaly SCM10 is used with bridged Bel Canto at 360 watts )

Go for it!
I had a 102/180/Hicap feeding Royd Abbots - got hold of a cheap CA2 (£340 - the one with the phono stage) then tried a pair of 10s from Alastair at Signals, Ipswich and they simply p'd from a great height over my Naim gear (which I had been upgrading for years and tried a variety of speakers including ATC 7s).

Can't help there - I've got an ATC CA2 pre.
