I've got that too - it is excellent even on a Linn Classic Movie System.

War of the Worlds.

Unfortunately no PCM track, only DTS - but not bad.

Surprisingly effective - even with a 'plastic' looking Richard Burton floating head!

Hi Munch,

Doesn't say on the packaging - I'll read the endless titles at the end.

It is the stage show from it's tour last year at one of the venues.

Sympathy For The Devil - The Rolling Stones.
Not quite sure that this could be classed as a music dvd though?

We watched Gorillaz live in Manchester last weekend. Shaun Ryder's performance in Dare has had us in stitches ever since.

A Ramones last gig in 1996 one. Pretty poor sound and video really, but interesting for the old bits of late '70's footage from the rainbow and Whistle Test. Just about worth £6.99 for this aspect.

Peter Gabriel - Growing Up Live!

Great Music DVD with outstanding DTS soundtrack. I think it's actually full bitrate DTS, but not sure. Superb on a Naim AV system Winker

Thanks munch, I will have a look around. I also own "Play the Videos" and "Secret World". Both very good but somehow I prefer the Growing Up Live.

Do the "Still Growing Up" and "Unwrapped" offer new songs or just different concerts of more or less the same songs?

Rory Gallagher "Live at Montreux". God he was good.

I just got Diana Krall's 'Live in Montreal' yesterday. Only watched a bit of it but it seems very promising!

Metallica - Cunning Stunts

IMHO very good. Maybe not audiophile, but certainly involving and lots of fun!

Porcupine Tree - In Absentia DTS

Amazing album. Great variety of sounds and styles. Love this album!

I think I will order some Nine Inch Nails too, as IMHO they made some of the best albums on CD I have ever heard. Maybe the DVDs are just as exciting.

Munch,

So does mine, but .....

Dolby Digital = lossy compressed track.

PCM = uncompressed.

For sound quality:

Julia Fordham - That's Live
Jean Michel Jarre - Aero
Kraftwerk - Minimum/Maximum
Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense
The Eagles - Hell Freezes Over

For atmosphere and live performance:

U2 - Live From Slaine Castle
AC/DC - Live From Donnington
New Order - Live From Finsbury Park

And as mentioned Peter Gabriel's DVD's

Hi Nap-ster,

Any PCM soundtracks?

....they don't always note it on the boxes!

Thx,

I'm away from home atm so I was thinking what I am missing listening/watching to!
Not entirely sure if the stereo mix is PCM on them all to be honest I would have to check.

Thinking on further, any of the REM, Depeche Mode and Talking Heads DVD-A re-issues are also excellent recordings. As mentioned above the Porcupine Tree surround mix DVD's are also worth a listen. They definitely have PCM options. Steven Wilson seems to like to release his stuff in these formats. However, the latest Porcupine Tree Live DVD seems to have the centre track missing for some reason.

Kraftwerk - Minimum Maximum.

Even if you're not a fan the visuals are quite amazing!
