I originally had "Pulse" on a laserdisc, which was quite excellent, so I waited with increasing anticipation for the DVD to emerge, which it very belatedly did after many delays.
To say I was disappointed would be an understatement! It was in 4:3. Sound was a bumped-up DD (rather than dts), and for some reason known only to the people who mastered for DVD they used different and most definitely inferior 'takes" of the concert, presumably from different nights to the laserdisc.
Much as I loved the concert (and I was there on one of the nights in question - the night before the seating fell down...) I just can't bring myself to watch it again.

Tony - I picked up the DVD a while back when I spotted it whilst on a shopping/visa-run w'end in Singapore - haven't got round to watching it yet, though of course I know the concert/tour well from the double CD and VHS video...!
On the back of the DVD it makes a point of the fact it is RESTORED to original 4.3 aspect ! That certainly dates it - the only thing that seems to be shot in 4.3 these days is European football !!
Steve.

Well, I bought Pulse on video-CD a long time ago. Then I bought the DVD when it came out. Both look the same (while DVD sounds worse than the video-CD). My guess it that the DVD version is a transfert of the video-CD on a new medium, period.

Joe Bonamasa Live @ Albert Hall, re-lived and again enjoyed this concert, even if others didn't like it.

I watched this yesterday afternoon -
Very enjoyable. Jack White, the Edge and Jimmy Page hang around together, exploring each other's guitar styles and riffs, and generally chatting about their music.
It reveals all three to be dedicated musicians in their different ways who still get a huge buzz out of playing guitar and who come across as straightforward, remarkably normal blokes, albeit with amazing talents!
If you enjoy either playing or listening to electric guitar then this is a highly recommended watch.

Tony,
What's their version of Kashmir like? It's in the extras apparently.

The other two get Jimmy to explain how the riff came about & then all three just jam along for a bit on the Kashmir theme.

Frickin fantastic !
Will order the BD right now (hadn't realised it had been released so soon)...
Not a huge fan of Jack White, but as long as he stays in the background like that and plays rhythm, he'll be watchable...!
