Hi Mud,
Many years ago I had a girlfriend who LOVED Cohen - got to say I was amazed anyone bothered to record him as the man couldn't sing.
Haven't changed my mind since, they would have to pay me $100 to get me to go in!

Yeah I know what you mean, I told a friend his voice was like gravel and without the humor of Dylan.
I liked his songs done by others, J Warrens Judy Collins and such, the feminine touch is good. But the first time I heard in in college in the 70s it was really dark after hearing much other R&R

Waiting Friday for someone to come pick me up I watched Zep's The Song Remains the Same.
Somewhat pretentious, (duck) but obviously they were having fun with fame and money.

Michael Jackson No Ones
Comes with PCM soundtrack - but of variable quality, some great - some not so good.
Overall a good buy at a bargain price, £6.
Comparing the first video to the last shows what an horrific series of jobs MJ instructed the surgeons to perform.

I was perusing my local HMV here in Edmonton, well one of them and I noticed there are quite a few Blue Ray discs featuring artists "live from Montreaux" I purchased a couple, Yes and Jethro Tull and wondered if you experienced people could give me some guidance.
Having just got a nice new system (Panasonic Viera 54" V series, Sherwood Newcastle R-872 Receiver, Axiom Audio Epic 60-500 7.1 speakers and a PS3 for Blue Ray) I was wondering if people had a any tips for buying better music DVDs and wther Blue Ray really makes that much difference with older concerts. For example I've got the Who live at Kilburn 1977 on normal DVD and that is great.
Cheers
Tim

Zappa plays Zappa, a live concert by the son of Frank, in double DVD.
An awesome band, I've never ever seen such good performers playing such difficult music with a similar nonchalance..
I watched the most of it with my mouth open, probably. You may like Zappa's music or not, but this is enormously enjoying.
Thanks, DrMark - a very nice present. Dweezil Zappa himself is such a great guitar player that I didn't even feel frustrated - only bewildered.

Thanks Max I'll look into tit, I don't know Zappa much, just the reputation. I'd like to see Dweezil rip on his dad.

The best of all their DVD's. This is really very good.
Thirded.
This has a GREAT PCM soundtrack - all my favourite tracks; and YES, I can remember the early eighties!

Tears down my cheeks for one of the greatest nights of my life. I haven't been moved by music like this for a long time. Isn't it just great, lol!

It's a preposterous film. That's what makes it kinda great. It could only have been made in the mid 70s, and only by Led Zeppelin.
Now the double DVD from 2003... that really is spectacular.

Mark Knopfler - Get Lucky.
This is the DVD which comes with the CD in the Digipack.
The footage of the guided tour around Mark's recording studio - British Grove is very interesting, as he pointed out he want's the best of analogue and digital recording and mastering equipment in order to remain true to the original sound as he and Chuck hear it.
Well worth watching, and there's music too.

Earth, Wind & Fire Live in Japan.
Just awful. It's not half the band it used to be. Voices are shot. Too old. It made me sad.

Jethro Tull - Live At Madison Square Garden
I have an admission, I think The Tull are great. I first fell in love with their music at the age of 14 when my brother bought Aqualung.
This DVD is of a concert from 1978, when the group were at the top of their game; The concert was televised by the BBC.
The DVD includes a first rate LPCM sound-track.
Excellent stuff

On Blu-ray. A great concert movie. Perhaps the best ever. Sound quality on Blu-ray is very, very good.
