the f.a. cup final

Posted by: minime on 03 April 2004

will be played by at least one team and poss 2 teams
that don't cheat and dive through 90 mins of football
how arse fans can call van nistleroy a diver after today's performace is beyond me.
the treble 99 mufc.

Man Utd deserved there victory.

Arsenal weren't exactly sporting either with their time wasting at the end of last years FA Cup Final against Southampton.

Arsenal are a talented side, but the diving today did them no credit

The ref was wrong in not sending off Robert Pires for ungentlemanly conduct.

it seems to me that were arsenal and utd are cocerned the refs have been wrong all season.

hmmm,

just to even things up: if pires should have walked then keanes dismissal was as deserving. Arsenal had a couple of good penlty calls turned down and the 'dives' were not as numerous as the unbelievably biased mark lawrenson would have you believe (yes I know he's liverpool and should lend his support the other way, but hes had a penchant for united for ages).

Must admit that uniteds was a great team performance and they thoroughly deserved their win. Arsenal were ragged, with the key creative players making too many errors.

I agree, Roy Keane challenge on Pires didn't deserve to go unpunished. At least a booking. Its also worth noting that had Pires been sent off, he wouldn't have been on the pitch for Keane to commit the bookable offence on him in the first place.

Arsenal did have some penalty calls, some go for you and some don't; it wasn't their day.

To be fair to the referee, the Silvestre handball in the box was on the ref's blindside; as Mark Lawrenson said.

Bergkamp did dive in the box though and he deserved a booking for that.

The congratulations go to Man Utd for a good performance.

The irony is last year Sheffield Utd played better than Arsenal in the Semi-final and lost with everybody remembering Seaman's save.

A year on Roy Carroll produces a save from Toure's header early in the game and you wondered if its Man Utd's year to win the cup.

Arsenal are the best footballing side in this country.

They are likely to win the league and stand a good chance of beating Chelsea in the Champions League.

As disappointing as it is for Arsenal they will still be lifting at least one trophy this year.

they will win a trophy but time will show they ain't as good as the treble winning team of 99
and on the subject of sending's off the arsenal
hardman goalkeeper who pushed the 18 year old to the floor should have walked.
if roy keene had have done a pires on a arsenal player he would also have walked.
pires diving against porstmouth, sticks in my mind sometimes things have a way of balancing their way out.
for what it's worth i thought arsenal looked very tired.

At least Millwall are my local team - congratulations and they'll surely stuff Moan U in the final. Even if they loose, it'll be interesting to see them in the UEFA Cup!

Arsenal had better win on Wednesday otherwise their season could go into terminal, fatigue induced, meltdown. I always thought that playing Moan U twice, Chelsea twice, Liverpool and Newcastle, all in the space of what seems like a week, may cause problems.

Chelsea are under no pressure in either competition. I wouldn't be surprised if they lead the Premiereship in a couple of weeks. I'll be very surprised if they win it though - when they believe they can win the league, they'll loose it.

Looks like ManU will win some silverware after all. Man U deserved their win on Saturday. Arsenal looked tired. Chelsea must have, after Saturday, a little bit more belief in themselves. A tight game at Highbury.

Millwall in Europe - now that is something.

"Looks like ManU will win some silverware after all"

Of course ManYoo fans could never be accused of arrogance or hubris could they?

As a neutral (well supporting the team I do that is usually after the first round in which we compete) I usually back the underdogs in the final especially when playing Manure.

Sunderland yes I would have been quite happy to back them, a once proud football club fallen on hard times has good cup run and reaches final etc...

But Millwall?!? And the thought of some of their followers enhancing the reputation of English fans abroad next season.

I shall be supporting Millwall. </ungrit teeth>

If nothing else Sunderland and Millwall produced a game fitting of an FA Cup semi-final and ManYoo and Arse didn't.

I am surprised that there has been no comment about the hatchet job on Reyes by Scholes.

and only a few comments on arsenal finding the famous bottle from last season. if they mess up the prem it will be indeed a 'famous' treble.

It was a pretty poor challenge and could have earned scholes a red. At least it gave us the amusement of Whingers comments saying that that challenge had put reyes out for 2 weeks, only to see him play in a game 3 days later.
