NBLs coming this evening (maybe)

Posted by: London Lad on 20 March 2004

Hi all,

I’m going to look at some NBLs this evening and if everything is in order then I may be bringing them home with me Smile

I can’t find any instructions on the Naim site and was wondering if anyone can tell me all about the transit bits and bobs.

The seller seems a good sort and seems to know his stuff (and may well have the original instructions) but I just want to be sure before I consider moving them.

Thanks

Graham.

5"- 12" from the back wall and away from corners: that's what the manual says Smile

Computers are supposed to work on 1's and 0's - in other words "Yes" or "No" - why does mine frequently say "Maybe"?......

I don't have NBL's, and there is no online manual Frown. What about the 10 foot wide room?

There's no mention in the manual about a 10' wide room.........
Ade Archer, how big is your room actually?
I know it's smaller than mine (no comments please!) but you might be better equiped to answer that one.........
The manual does however say; if possible, locate them between 4 and 13 feet apart.

Thank you all for all your help and info.

I now have a pair of mint 2002 cherry NBLs sitting in my lounge awaiting the arrival of a third 250 and new snaxo.

They are big aren't they !!!

Congrats!!!

Smile I love my NBLs, too! They are not sooo big, but they look very good! And they sound fabulous in my active 135s setup...!

I personally think the NBLs are the best speaker naim have done, they look and sound fantastic.

Its not to you get up close to them that you see why they cost what they do.

I am very jelous Mad

Well I was going to leave the Allaes in place until the third 250 and snaxo 362 arrived in a couple of weeks but the NBLs just kept calling me!

I decided to give them a go passive with one 250 Mk2.

So they are now in place, spikes adjusted, x-overs on, transit bolts and packing off and HF / MF box rocking nicely.

Just got to swap some leads and I’ll be up and running passive sson.

Congrats, what a great ending to the story!

They really are pretty speakers and I'm sure will sound wonderful active. I wasn't so impressed with them on passive 135s but the 500 made them sing. I don't mean to rain on your parade but you will certainly appreciate them more with the active 250s. Also I think your Mk2 version will be better than the olive equivalent.

ENJOY!

Can anyone who has owned NBLs from new tell me how the running in period sounded please?

I'm still waiting for the 3rd 250 and snaxo so I'm passive with one 250 at the moment.

Full report coming soon.

Hi Graham,

How about posting your warm-up impressions. I'd be very keen read about what you have to say about the NBLs.

I'm just waiting for the 3rd 250 Mk2 and new snaxo to be delivered and I will post an Allae active V NBL passive V NBL active report.

I was interested in other peoples warm up comments because I am still trying to determine if my NBLs are really unused as claimed by the vendor.

I am also waiting for Naim to comeback with some answers to a couple of set-up questions before I write a full report.
