another burn in question

has anybody experienced this, getting a new naim pre or power amp, plugging it in and getting a good sound, then a few days later the sound changes not for the worse per se but not for the better, it seems I am experiencing this with my 282, i have had it almost 2 weeks and leave it on all the time, does it start to bloom and change even more, thanks,Ben r

Hi Ben,
I've had my 282 about 8 weeks now. There is a cyclical effect taking place with it, the same as I experienced with my mains upgrades. Laurie on the 'spur' thread mentioned this and I agree with him.

I don't recall any Naim kit I have purchased not taking weeks to settle down! Pain in the arse but i suppose they are all thoroughbreds arent they? Wink

Hello good to hear, did you find an improvement after say 2 weeks or so or more time, thanks,Ben....also what were the differences

.....I've noted improvements up to 2-3 months with Naim kit (tails off/more subtle towards the end)....sound stage fills out, becomes more musical, additional detail, bass arrives, smoothing of treble, overall presentation takes on an 'effortless' feel....282 no different to this profile.....

Strange though it may be I've found most audio components take a rollercoaster ride for a while before settling in. My new NAIT 5i started out grand, then a couple of days later -- aarrgghhh, turn it off! -- then better again and better and better Big Grin

thats interesting, it sounds like all the way up and down no matter which piece you have it takes time and you hear differences along the way
