RA PowerPakIII (again)

I asked RA whether they viewed their PPIII as better than a Flatcap2. Their response is barely believable - anyone got any comments?

quote:
We think so, but ultimately, of course only your ears will decide. The PowerPak's tend to give you smoother, more controlled sound with better more natural bass, taming the often bright forward sound a Naim system has.

What's barely believable about that reply? If you ask a company which makes a product you're considering buying whether it's any good or not, that's the sort of reply you'll get.

Why not buy one under the money-back guarantee and decide for yourself?

They claim it to be an upgrade for Hicap, they claim it "tames the often bright forward sound a Naim system has". I find it hard to believe a £169 power supply from a 3rd party is better than a much more expensive one from the equipment vendor. If they said it was equivalent to a FC I could sort of believe it, nearly as good but 1/2 the price I could believe, but better? Hmm...
