cdx2 update

Posted by: scottyhammer on 25 March 2004

hi all,
following up on my thread beam me up scotty.
its been a glorious week with my new cdx2 which as
forcast by many of you just gets better and better. have been playing a wide variety of music at low and high volumes and am very happy with it.
did have a minor mishap though when the dammed puck decided to go have a look inside machine, very embarassing for me as i warned wife of the danger only previous evening!! i did it once on my old cdx and dont expect to do it again on this!! anyway alls well again as im enjoying exploring my music collection all over again ( old cliche i know BUT true).
more observations
-------------------
feet are bigger. not mine! cdx2.
drawer heavier
smoother servo
machine slightly heavier
very solid build
-------------------
all of the above imho contribute to a better cd player now cant wait to xps2 and s-cap it all off. incidentally have ordered a hdcd to try out
will be a 1st for me! anyway will let you know how things progress.
by the way did i tell you i have a new cdx2???
be lucky, scotty

One thing I have noticed on my CDS3 as opposed to my old CDX is that the servo/transport is noisier. i.e the sound of the laser repositioning at the end of a CD etc is far more apparent (not a problem though obviously)

yep mine too even the trouble n strife mentioned it!!
but as you say its not a problem, in fact i would suggest it gives an impression of class build design quality feel. coz its so smooooooooth!

one other thing has come to my attention and thats coz i just played it!
the new peppers album , greatest hits - would miss the 1st couple of seconds or so at the start of each track, summit to do with copy protection.
but it doesnt happen on the "wonderful" cdx2.
good eh!

Good to hear you are enjoying your new CDX2 - a friend has also had one for a few weeks and is dead chuffed with it.

It has the hard metal feet of the '3' and thus responds positively to a good support system. What is yours on?
