I love my system too much

Posted by: Minky on 25 March 2004

And that's a problem ? Well YES, because I just can't seem to able to muster the prerequisite feelings of disgust, boredom, greed, lust or unhappiness necessary to tear me from the warm embrace of my "old" CDS2 and into the muscular arms of a shiny new '3. At the moment I'd just as soon spend the cash on a tree.

Any words of encouragement, derision, anger, anything that'll give me a decent dose of upgradeitis would be appreciated. No silliness please.

Minky,

Hang on!

This must be a trick. If you're so happy with your system then what are you doing here then? Ay?? C'mon?? Explain that then??

Jay,

I want to want a new CDS3 in the same way a bloke with erectile dysfunction wants to want to have sex. I think I just need a bit of Viagra. THAT'S why I'm here.

Have you heard the CDS3.

If not, and you actually hanker after one then listening will certainly plant the upgraditus seed.

However I would be tempted to not bother if you're really happy.

Minky, if you are currently immune to upgradeitis, you should try and develop a bad case of downgradeitis. Then, once you've gotten rid of your present system and listened to a boombox for a while, upgradeitis will spontaneously occur without outside help.

Seriously, what's wrong with having found your comfort level? There's no law that says you MUST stay on the upgrade path.

At the moment I'd just as soon spend the cash on a tree.

... or on a good TT.

Buy that CDS3 and tell us how much you love your system and that you don't want DBLs Roll Eyes.

A tree? Does this literally mean "a tree?" Or is that some sort of Briticsism? Or are you a forester?

But seriously - I tried out a CDSiii thinking that the CDSii could not be bettered - so I bought a CDSiii - no regrets - the system is now complete (unless a pair of homeless Chimeras come knocking on the door) demo next month no just jesting <g>

Markus,

That's crazy talk.

Midun,

The CDS3 is giving me that "come hither" look but nothing is stirring. The way I feel at the moment, I would probably get as much of a thrill if spend the money on ANYTHING and the funniest example of "anything" that came to mind was a tree.

Come on people - I want to get the bug. INFECT ME !

Crazy;

Minky's worrying because he's not worrying about an upgrade. I guess I'm in a similar position - the system is sounding great at the moment (see profile); and I'm not hankering after any changes.

But........ that doesn't stop me thinking about it.

If you do want something to worry about; have a home dem of a '3'.

Otherwise; keep away from us nutters and enjoy the music.

What sort of tree did you have in mind?

Sounds good. I recently planted a golden totara out the back. All of 60cm high but I have great expectations for it.

A special feature is that it has a fully automatic self managed upgrade technology inbuilt as part of the standard package.

This must be the silliest thread on the forum in a long time. Why anyone should ever feel the need to create the urge to upgrade from a cds2 to cds3, well, ahem, I just don't even know where to begin with how wrong-headed I think this is.

As far as trees are concerned I *do* spend my money on them. I suggest you go seek out a nice Camperdown Elm. (do a search and seek out a photo of one in winter. It's really a fabulous tree...)

Steve,

That's the great thing about trees : plug and play.

Markus,

Are you German ?

I've got the answer Minky me old mate.
Fiddle!
What is your sistem sitting on? Racks? Try improving or experimenting the support of the sistem, trying Fraim Chips or Mana. Service the connections, dismantle the sistem and clean all the boxes.
Once you hear differences and get excited about it - off you go.
The most upgraditis I ever get is when I have similarly minded nutters come round for a serious listen. Get your mates around.

Minky,

Do the right thing and spend your cash in HMV, or give it to me.

Or you could buy a record deck...

I don't know the details of your system.
May one presume you don't own a high-end subwoofer?
Then I would humbly suggest that you have not a clue what your music collection actually contains.
The SVS range & top models of Velodyne are recommended for your audition.
Beware of (l)imitations. Prepare yourself for a shock!
Do you grin much while listening to your music?
Are you ever afraid?
