WhaTS THE PERCIVED WISDOM ON THE 202, I HAVE A 112 AND THOUGHT THAT THE 202 MIGHT BE A SUITABLE PLACE TO START,

THIS WOULD THEN FORM A REPLACEMENT FOR MY 112/HI INTO MY 180

Anslem,

Yes the 202 is a good place to start, a second hand 82 would be even better, however this may end up showing the defficiencies in your CD3.5.

Failing a good pre amp have you thought about a cdx?

Anselm - I think the 202 is great preamp and represents excellent VFM. The 202 is considerably better than the 112, IMHO.

Hi Anselm

You should really be aiming for a 200 to partner a 202. The 180 is fine in the meantime of course.

Don't forget the NAPSC with the 202, which independently powers the digital/control circuitry.

A friend has just added one and was staggered at the upgrade, for a fist full of dollars.

Particularly important, as it sounds like you already have a Hi-Cap?

I think my 82 tamed my CD3.5 a bit.
('course I then got a CDX...)
