Mindy Smith

A newish singer/songwriter worth checking out is Mindy Smith. Light country/pop style, at first the songwriting didn't grab me, but it is growin' on me. The voice is to die for.
Looking forward to seeing Ms Smith in Pdx on the 17th opening for Nickel Creek. Add FredGrass to that line up and it would be a perfect evening.

Jeff,
Agreed. A really good debut album. She sounds a little like Suzanne Vega in parts.

Yes indeed Jeff; my favourite DJ in the UK, Bob Harris has been playing her stuff.
Very pleasant, and her voice is as you say - sublime.

Pleased you have enjoyed her as well.
A friend gave me this album a week ago and by yesterday I listened to it 4 times in the one day. "One Moment More", whilst very simple lyrically, is just heart-wrenching in the performance. And the bonus track with Dolly, well ....

Just keep on listening to this album because it does not stop getting better.
If you like this then start having a listen to Alison Krauss if you have not already done so.

Jeff,
I purchased a copy of this album based on your recommendation and it went straight to "annoyingly high rotation" in the Minky household and doesn't show any signs of abating. Lovely stuff.
THANKS

Pleased you are enjoying, and, likewise, still at the top of the pile in my house.
She was very good live. Just her on acoustic guitar and vocals and a gentleman on mandolin. The songs were just a little "thin" this way, a cello would have really complimented the sound live and provided a little texture and bottom. Hoping she returns soon with a full band.

Yip,
She gets my vote, and on the track Raggedy Ann, reminded me why I brought a CDS3.
Fabulous album.
