Who has had any problem's with his NAIM apparatus and how is it made?
What was it and what were the costs?
For example: CD5 with a broken transportmechanism. Could you solf it by your self or did you have to go back to your dealer?
And what were the cost to repear it?
Or will NAIM repear a lot as service? (doesn't matter how old the apparatus is)
NAIM: NAIT5 / REGA:Radio,Planet /
CHORD: Cobra 2 / Dynaudio: Natural One

I have not had any problems with any Naim products. However, I believe the cd5 has a five year warranty which would cover any transport problems.

I bought my first Naim equipment 15 years ago and have NEVER had a single problem with any of it.
Computers are supposed to work on 1's and 0's - in other words "Yes" or "No" - why does mine frequently say "Maybe"?......

Very poor, why?

Because if you wanted to say Naim equipment it just might come out as Naim apparatus.

Ah....right - now I see Robbert is dutch, didn't pick up on that BIGH. Thought your post a little "obtuse".
Verontschuldigingen Robbert als ik inbreuk in elk geval heb veroorzaakt. Een enkel dwaze NZer die van een weinig stoom na het werk eruit ziet te laten.

I see that you use a translator or someting like that. Because the grammer is very.....
When i'm on the forum, i learn a lot of English. Maybe over a couple of years i can write in English like you.
Butt the most important thing is that most people will understand my question (s)
I see that Naim equipment is very stabel. It isn't very mutch broken. That's a good ting to read.
Any one else who had "problem's "

I must have been unlucky because I have had faults with several NAC52s, CDS, and NAP250.
In every case it had to go back to Naim, usually for quite a long time.
Naim are very generous in interpreting the guarantee if you have bought the item new.
Otherwise service costs are fair, but in line with the original price of the item.

Bought my first Naim system in 1985, 42.5/hicap/110. recently upgraded to 202/200 using original hicap, never had a problem in 19 years.

Had a noisy volume pot replaced on a 42.5 I used to have, and a service at the same time. It was 20 yrs old though, so fair play.

The only 'problem' I've had in 26 years of Naim ownership is keeping a light in the on/off switch of my 250. The old globes were hopeless, even the newer type blow after a while.
Not that it's ever bothered me.

Have had problems with two pieces of Naim gear, an AV2 and a 282.
The AV2 had a faulty chip to do with the volume control which manifested itself after 4 months(Not Naims fault), the 282 had a problem with unity gain with the AV2 which came down to a component fault which manifested itself after a couple of months - the previous owner never used unity gain, again, not Naims fault.
In the case of the AV2, Naim wanted it back so they sent out a replacement to my dealer, much to the dealers suprised when it arrived unannounced. With the 282, I just went back to using my Nait2 and got the 282 back 3 weeks later.
My feeling is that component failure can happen which doesn't show up during the initial build and soak tests before the equipment is sent out.
Steve.

So far so good on CDS3. No ERR message on any of my discs so far. ( a record@! )
It's operating flawlessly from the day it got here. But give it some time and I am sure I'll manage to break it.
Now.. CDX2s I had in the house were different story...

No problems with any of my Naim gear in 15 ish years of ownership.
Rockingdoc - you must have been very unfortunete or else you use your Naim gear in some strange ways (Guitar amp, in Damp garden shed, driving 1 ohmn speakers, sex games!!).
No problems with CDS3 so far, (No Errs etc).
Quick question to Kuma (and other CDS3 owners). When you put a CD on the spindle prior to putting the puck on, is there any play between the CD and the spindle, i.e can you move the CD at all. On mine the spindle is slightly (i.e maybe 0.3 mm) smaller than the hole in CD's. The only reason I ask is that on my old CDX there was no play at all. This does not seem to cause any issues playing CD's thoough.

greeny,
Slight *play* between a spindle and a CD, but not much.
If I recall correctly, there was more space on CDX2.

Ok, Thanks Kuma, Sounds normal then. It's just on my CDX (not CDX2) there was none.

'When i'm on the forum, i learn a lot of English' - I doubt that very much....there are parts of the Net where English is available, though...
I had a dry joint on the tape input to a 72 in 1988. And the CDI used to skip a bit (well known problem). Apart from that, nothing.

My CDX2 had a fault as soon as the box was opened. There was a section of the Laser Transport which was not installed correct and was scratching discs as they went around.

I bought a Nait 3 new in 1994 (my first taste of Naim) and the only slight 'blip' on an otherwise faultless performance record in 10 years of ownership occurred about 5 or 6 years ago when it suddenly 'died' on me. Bizarrely, and knowing a lot less then than I do now about Naim gear, I just decided it was destined for Dodo-country and duly scoured the ads for a second-hand replacement. I drove to the seller with £350 cash from my savings but, rather than take my money, he kindly examined by broken Nait and realised in about 5 second that the fuse had blown! He replaced the fuse and accepted a tenner for his trouble! The Nait then continued uncomplainingly in my system until I upgraded to a NAC112/NAP150 combo last year!
Only other niggles have been with my (s/h) CD5. The first was when it refused to recognised my Curtis Mayfield 'Curtis' CD. I cured it by pressing 'play' a few times and since then, no problems. The second was shortly after I moved house a couple of weeks ago - the display just blanked out and then it would not recognise any CD. A simple cure: switch the unit off then on again.
And that's it from me.
JonR
PS: Hoe gaat het met jouw? Met my gaat het goed! (and that's the only Dutch I know
