Mains Electrics Question

Hello,

We're having some electrical work done around the house and i'm aware of spare capacity on the consumer unit. I have read previous comments on the benefits of providing a dedicated electrical supply for the hi-fi.

2 questions -
1, is the difference really that noticable (i do notice background hum from the power amp).

2, what in simple laymans terms would i ask the electrician for? I'm thinking about wiring / fuse capacity etc ?
