Presidential Co-operation

With the tour of Tsunami devastated areas by Mr. Clinton and Mr. Bush. Condi's wordwind tour, Hilary's appearances and the forthcoming European visit of the President a corner appears to be aturning . The Americans are very wise to bury all hatchets and form this united front.

Dubya has landed:

And whilst we're on the subject of dubya and presidential co-operation(a tenuous link, I admit), it's interesting to note the echoing of messages springing forth from Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro regarding assassination attempts.

I heard parts yesterday, I personally don't think they're so very relevant, though God help his so-called ex mate, and the gutter press will naturally make heavy of them no doubt ?

The transcripts reflect well on Bush, particularly his attitudes to gays and his distancing himself from the Christian right.
As for marihuana, at least he had the sense to inhale.

Watching his speech a little while ago at NATO HQ, George did seem to be in good spirits, though watching/reading between the lines & the camera work which panned on occassion to Condi I did seriiously get the impression that she was 'almost telepathically' cueing him with her nods & expressions, and he was seemingly seriously affected by her presence, where'as Colin would have just been in the background so to speak, if you get my drift ?

What's with the way he's sitting. Does he think he's got a big willie?

As a native of Texas the President's theme song could be " Give me land, lots of land, don't fence me in" He is merely taking up his alloted space.
Incidentally Thirty three and a Third, I had the pleasure of staying for a couple of weeks at Punta Gorda and remember your area quite well. My host used to slip over there for brekfast at one of the Drug stores. I also remember asking for a Root Beer, a la Snoopy, and surprise surprise, it was what we call a sarsparilla here in Australia. Nothing new in the world afterall.

Yup - Old 'W' has got a lot better at the public speaking part of his job but make no mistake, get him off track and he goes to pieces. All to easy to underestimate him which is what has made him so dangerous.

Andy,
You're right about his public speaking and his tendency to 'go to pieces' when he goes off track. However, I don't see how our underestimating the man makes him dangerous.
You feel that he's dangerous presumably because he has taken action that you believe to have been dangerous.
If those regimes that he's against were to underestimate him, that would indeed be dangerous. However, after Afghanistan and Iraq there's no way that they're underestimating him and that, in my opinion (doubtless unpopular here, as usual), makes the situation safer not more dangerous.
