Mineral Waters

Following on from the Non Alcoholic Beers thread, what are your favourite mineral waters? I favour those with a high bicarbonate content; Badoit for a day to day drink and St Yorre with food.

San Pellegrino - for sparkling and Evian for everyday drinking.

I do not like the taste of Volvic or Vittel.

I don't like Volvic, either, it seems to taste of pebbles!

Good old Scottish Tap Water if it's to be still as the quality is great here.

For sparkling, either San Pellegrino or Highland Spring.

Malvern Still for adding to my whisky.

The stuff from the tap tastes fine.

Evian reversed spells naive - who says the French have no sense of humour?

cheers

You are lucky. I have no idea where they get the water from where I work, but you'd be brave to drink it. Some days it is brown, and it always has loads of particles in it.

We have the choice of Evian and Vittel at work. Vittel tastes grim, so its Evian for me. It tastes milky, which I kinda like.

Many years ago I was on my hols with my parents in Greece. Naturally we drank the bottled water (at a price). When I went for a walk I noticed a bottling plant just up the road from the hotel. They were bottling water - the same water that my parents were paying a relative fortune for in the hotel.

A little further investigation revealed that the tap water used in the hotel came from the same source as the water they were bottling!

Is bottled water that safe anyway? There have been several scares involving major brands over the years (Perrier anyone?). I trust you are not drinking that stuff produced by the Coca Cola company, cannot remember the name.

At least with beer the water is boiled during the brewing process! It was the only trustworthy drink in the past and real ale has to be kept in hygeinic conditions - you can easily tell if it hasn't.

Badoit is very good, both on its own and with food.

But have you tried Dasani? It's fantastic – it comes from a tap in Sidcup and costs about 6,347 times as much as prfectly drinkable London tap water. What's more it's all been withdrawn due to its bromate content (so it's a surefire collector's item, eBay fiends).

I love it coz it's the perfect demonstration of why people in marketing (especially in marketing for large corporations) are, and will always be, contemptible tossers.

Kevin,
Badoit is the best, it needs to be chilled and I find it's best out of a glass bottle as opposed to the plastic bottles from Sainsbury's.

It brings back very happy memories of France.
