Speaker recommendations

Posted by: gusi on 15 April 2004

Hi All,

A mate of mine has had the rubber ring on one of his speaker drivers disintegrate with age and sees this as a good opportunity to buy some new speakers.

Budget is $A800 (250-300 ukp). The rest of the system is an older model Marantz amp and cd player in a huge loft style living room about 8wx6dx6h meter (25x20x20ft) with a pointy ceiling.

He listens to a lot of jazz and classical.

Any recommendations?

cheers
Gus

Yes, save, borrow, steal more money then we can talk. Sorry but all he might be able to get is a knackered pair of Kans (they really are superb speakers) but then he doesn't have an amp, or probably the front end, to do them any justice. Sorry not to have any real help but good luck to him for anyn future moves.
