Does Adam sleep?

Posted by: Aric on 13 February 2005

Adam,

Are you one of those superhumans that can get by with only 3 or 4 hours of sleep? By my clock, your posts seem to consistently go far into the night - like 2 or 3 in the morning.

As for me, I'm worthless unless I get at least 7 1/2 hours of sleep. Although 9 is much better. A week of consistent 6ish and I'm sick.

Adam is a Naim creature. Switch him off and it takes weeeks for him to be at his best again.

Though he does seem to be posting at hours that suit my hemisphere of preference quite well but are the witching hours in the UK.

Maybe he's on holiday - but surely to god the last thing he'd do on leave would be to get on the forum?

No - this weekend has seen me up to all hours working through some new music. It reminds me what all this is about - the accurate reproduction of music in the home.
Plus, as you all know, I am nothing but a "full time" moderator.

Its good to know my posts give meaning to somebody's life other than my own...

To provide balance perhaps Naim should employ a full time excessor? (Or is there already one?)

Plenty of freelance candidates for that role.

Adam, My copy of the Naim Autumn Newsletter for 2004 has arrived today. Considerably cheered to see that you look just as I imagined. Very distinguished and totally suited to the task at hand.
Can you advise me if the panel showing who is on the forum at any given time is available? I saw it once and only once or am I not pressing the right buttons. Not your buttons, that is.

Lomo,

Apparently that little feature was switched on by accident in Adam's absence. Glad it's been done away with if you ask me.

Cheers,

JR

I (of course) enjoy that priviledge but, on the whole, think most would prefer to announce their presence by posting.

Maria,

I am a big fan of you as the only woman in this forum Big Grin

I also happen to spend more time than I should listening to music late at night. The next day it´s a nightmare to wake up though. Red Face

Julius.

Tonight - Talking Heads Live (with weird bonus material), B-52s, Tom Tom Club and bigger bags under my eyes.

I would gladly trade fates. I currently do not have a stereo to stay up late listening to.

I made the mistake of letting my parents use it! Eek

Still intrigued as to whether I am going to enjoy Nursery Crimes and Foxtrot remotely as much as I did ... all those years ago.

Does Adam sleep . . . Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

Adam

And what about?
Trespass
Selling England By the Pound
Lamb Lies Down On Broadway
Seconds out
Trick Of The Tale

I always thought Nursery Cryme was very imaginative. Musical Box, The Return of the Giant Hogweed; The Fountain of Salmacis were my favourite tracks off the album.

Suppers ready was the interesting part of Foxtrot.

The other albums had some very good tracks too.

Any other bands or albums of that era you used to listen to?

Like
Yes :
Uriah Heep : Demons and Wizards?
Jethro Tull : Aqualung?
Pink Floyd : Dark side of the Moon or Wish You Were Here?

Will Adam, in the dead of Salisbury night, quietly moderate this thread into the music room?

Eek It must be very late and Adam must be very drunk. Big Grin
Well? Did you get past the first 10 minutes?

Jethro Tull - Sunday Feeling. Still works.

Traffic - Fantasy Factory. Seems better quality than most slightly disappointing Island CDs.

Pink Floyd - Meddle (yet to buy).

Pink Floyd - Dark Side - don't do acid anymore (honest).

What about Groundhogs? - Thank Christ for the Bomb. I passed on that but ...

Should bump it over to Music Room but don't want to scare them with my presence (dear)

Plastic Letters - better now than Parallel Lines.

(Ahem) No Adam, we know. Nowadays you do quality control...

Its not a flashback... The circuit boards are meant to move around like that...

Groundhogs, a blast from the past, now I'm going to have to plug in the LP12 and get play some records.

For me the old stuff is as vibrant and enjoyable as it was when I bought it, Floyd, Yes, Pretty Things etc in fact a lot of the stuff that I thought was 'so-so' actually sounds better now than it did then, not sure if that is me, the quality of the recordings or my stereo. Probably all the above. Smile

Gosh I hope so - 'Thick as a Brick' on Japanese remastered CD would do for me!

I never got into Tull although they get regular airplay on this side of the pond, along with Floyd, Yes and of course Stairway to Heaven played ALL the way through... Smile

Where should I start though, their catalog is HUGE any suggestions??

Andy

Uh Oh, this is really going to get thris thread moved to the Music Room
Posted on: 22 February 2005 by Peter C
Try :
Aqualung
Minstrel In The Gallery
Broadsword and the Beast
Posted on: 22 February 2005 by seagull
Also...

  • Stand up - early bluesy stuff
  • Songs from the Wood - mid 70's folky but definitely one of Tull's best
  • Bursting out - live album
Posted on: 22 February 2005 by Andy Kirby
I picked up Broadsword at lunch time so I'll give it a whirl...

BTW did they really win a Heavy Metal Grammy Award????

Shurley Shome Mishtake.
