Systems Analysis

May as well start this one off again - what kit you all got?

I suggest just listing our systems here, not getting into big discussions and tangents as it makes finding stuff easier if we keep it small.

Tony.

Gear:

This would appear to be mainly an AV setup, although I use it predominantly for music.

  • Arcam 7 CD (due for replacement in next 6 months; considering CD5 with Epona PSU, Arcam FMJ, etc.)
  • Linn LP12/Lingo/Akito/Asaka (ESCo rebuild)
  • Arcam 10 with DAVE upgrade as preamp
  • Arcam 10P/3 (115wx3) (upgraded)
  • Arcam 9P (75wx2) for rears
  • REL Stentor mkI (x2) fed off speaker outputs
  • Audio Physic Virgo mkI speakers (on loan)
  • B&W CC6 centre and CDM6S2(?) as rears

    Other stuff:

  • Mana 6-tier (holding electrics) on 4 soundstages (making it a Phase 5 support)
  • Mana Reference shelf plus extra flat-top (phase 3) holding LP12
  • Mana PSU table holding Lingo + Phono stage
  • DNM Reson mkII cable
  • QED Silver Spiral interconnects
  • Kimber Hicurrent powerchords

...the Mana is what makes this system sing: Arcam gear without Mana lacks speed and timing, but add a few levels of Mana and it undergoes a stratospheric transformation (which is why I ended up sticking with the ancient 7 CD player, as Mana keeps it up with more costly players)

Oh, and I have to add that the Audio Physic speakers integrate beautifully with the REL subs, and have as much detail and pace as my Sennheiser HD600 headphones, which shouldn't be! I only wish they were mine, but alas they're only borrowed; my normal speakers are Castle Harlechs (referenced), which aren't in the same league, sadly...

John (am I the only no-naim contributor in this group?)

i've added an '85 hicap (not serviced) with red led so:

VPI, Rotel as before/32-5/hi/140/b&w matrix 805

    Next to go: Rotel.

Still trying to decide between cheap used deck like Creek, Cal Icon, Planet, or bigger bucks for CD3 or 3.5. But first, I need cash (or I could just stop buying records).

The following are the equipment that I am using at the moment:-

    - Roksan TMS Record Player w/DS1.5 p/s
    - Naim Aro Tonearm
    - Micromagic Virus MC Cartridge
    - FM Acoustics 122 Phono Linearizer
    - FM Acoustics 255 Balanced type Preamplifier
    - FM Acoustics F-10B Balanced type Power Amplifier
    - Naim DBL Loudspeakers in Cherrywood finish

Future plans to upgrade power amp to FM's 411 or if funds become plentiful maybe 2 of the FMs 3-way Mono X-over with 2 F-10Bs in ACTIVE mode. It's just a dream away.

    Hi folks.

Well, here's my humble but affordable set-up.

Amp - Naim Nait-2 (bought for only 125,- UKP)
    Source - Naim CD-3.5
Speakers - Monitor Audio Studio-2SE's on Target HR-60 stands with marble slabs underneath.
Naim interconnect and Transparent "Wave" cable.

I probably will get me a decent equipment-support
in a short time. (No Mana of Hutter though. Way too expensive AND hard to find here AND bad looking)

    That's all folks,

    Greetings,
    Alco.

    82/Supercap
    250
    Naca5/SBLs

The only other black box I will upgrade soon is an XPS. After that I plan to pause for a few years before I will throw more cash on HIFI gear.
