Baroque Music

Well I've been wanting to get into classical music for many years now and I knew I liked the baroque and renaissance styles. But there's so much to choose from! I borrowed a sampler from the public library and found three tracks from Albinoni's Sinfonia in G Major. This is what I've been looking for! I loved it and want more. So what do you baroque-o-philes recommend from Albinoni and specifically what recording (label, artists etc) of Sinfonia in G Major should I purchase.
Thanks for all of your help.

I bought a CD of Bach and Morimur by the Hilliard Ensemble with Christopher Poppen (ECM New Music) and have really enjoyed it. Mysterious dark music with chorus and some solo violin. Short pieces to play late at night., Who needs new age when this stuff is around.

I suggest you check out the Harmonia Mundi Record label. They have produced some fantastic cd's of Baroque music amongst other genre's of classical music. For instances you can get a version of Handel's Concerto Grossi performed by the Ancient Music Academy for about £6.99 and its a wonderful sounding disc. Such is my admiration for the quality of sound generally to be found on this record label I'd order the whole back catalogue if I could but afford it!

Alan.
