Glastonbury ticket nightmare

Posted by: Simon Matthews on 02 April 2004

After three hours repeated effort last night I finally got a pair of tickets. Approx 65000 sold up to now with 40,000 or so to go.

As expected web and phone lines are totally f....d up and woefully inadequate for the demand. I have friends who have been trying literally all night.

A badly organised process as expected.

No 1 son is walking around dolefully today. He was lucky when he got last years tickets in about 20 minutes. He reckons people booking with credit cards slowed it all down. The message on the booking page has changed over night, highlighting the words about no credit cards. In the boys words fuck 'em I'm going to Reading instead.

I would seriously suggest that you do not attend the Glastonbury festival. It tends to attract some unsavory oiks who indulge in nefarious activities. Drug taking and petty theft are prevalent.

Also the facilities are prehistoric.

"Drug taking and petty theft are prevalent"

Thanks for the advice Mick but as I have my own stash there will be no need for me to nick anybody else's. Wink

Glastonbury is not far from Swindon and the local police are overwhelmed with petty crime. The overtime bills for the constabulary are enormous.
Also the number of untaxed and unroadworthy vehicles registered increases each year.

In the words of a policeman who is a friend of mine, there are more drugged up yobs attending every year.

I therefore suggest you check your facts before bandying insults around.

I went last year and found little to complain about, really, and thought it was good value for money.

I will remember some the concerts such as Beth Orton, Morcheeba, Radiohead etc for many years to come. Saw virtually all of the bands that I have an interest in.

Obvious failing is the facilities but it is only for a short period of time.

Received confirmation this morning of tickets for the Sunday, which is what I applied for, but I know some people tried throughout the night to no avail.

I did not get those facts from the Daily Mail but from a local policeman. You cannot get a better source than that.

I hope you will bandy less insults around in future.

I think first hand information from a local policement is about as good as you can get.

Why Mr Lees took exception in the way that he did is beyond me. These types of event tend to attract a certain types of unwashed individuals to whom petty crime is a way of life.

I would rather believe a local policeman than someone from Kent.

These festivals are a disgrace. They are attended by followers of Satan coming to dance to the devils music!

I just love this forum. This thread is a perfect example of why I keep coming back for more Big Grin.

Incidentally I heard yesterday that the guy who launched the Daily Mail stated that his objective was to give his readers a daily dose of hate. However, I heard it on the BBC so you have to take everything with a pinch of salt from that bunch of pinkoliberalcommiebastards.
