Baseball '04

So, should we do a fantasy league on Yahoo? My fear is that I heard MLB leagues can be time consuming.
Regardless, let's start by ragging on the offseason moves.
My early picks are the Angels and Cubs.

It's getting very tense.
Tony La Russa looks like a roadie for a 70s rock band.

These last few days have been as good as last years playoffs. Awesome stuff.
I've got a really important meeting tomorrow. Staying up to watch Yankees / BoSox would be grossly unprofessional.

I haven't seen a minute of the **CSs but god damn it's even exciting following by the headlines and ESPN stories. Though tonight I was in a bar (that went absolutely wild) when Matthew's favorite player with a gorgeous head of hair hit a clutch grand salami. This is top notch, people.

Could this be the end of the 'Reverse the Curse' sign on Storrow Drive????

A cracking start that confirms the impression that these are two evenly matched teams who are going to put on a show. This is going to 6 or 7 games for sure.
Watching a recap of the highlights of the NLCS I was struck that in retrospect it was a fantastic series that had some considerable misfortune to be on at eh same time as the Yankees Red Sox showdown that everyone has been looking forward for most of the year.

Ahead of Game 2 I finally found a picture of Pedro and his little voodoo friend. As a bouns Pedro is wearing swimming goggles.

PS As I type this that other New England side, the patriots, is looking like it can hang on to its streak in a squeaker against the Jets.

That photo is deeply disturbing. I love it.

I don't normally compare favourably to professional athletes, but I can in all honesty say that I am a more elegant runner than Jeff Suppan.

Horray for Boston fans. Having grown up with baseball on the East Coast, I knew many Yaz/Rice/Boggs/Rocket/etc fans as a kid, so I'm really happy for them. We may never see a team go through an ALCS and WS the way this team did. Props.

Mind you when he said "closing games" he may have meant somewhat later this week.

Reading his bold statements and predictions throughout the thread I'm convinced he thought the Cards would sweep it in four.

The Cards probably won the last 3.

Afternoon sportsfans. Just back after a bleak few days in St louis explaining to dumbfounded colleagues how I lived there for more 3 years (God the downtown is awful). Went to O'Connells pub for the wake and post mortem. Apart from the obvious frailty of the starting pitching and the base running (Jeff Suppan DUHHHH!) I thought LaRussa froze, made some inexplicable decisions (Larry Walker scarifice bunt) and generally was outmanaged. The contrast between our overly serious club with the fun loving "idiots" was emblematic of this. Anyway back to the hot stove league.
