Anyone using a new Prefix?

I'm on the hunt for a phono stage.
I have to say that the K cards in the 52 are performing far better than expected however RFI has become an issue since upgrading from an 82. As RFI was known to be a problem with earlier Prefixes, I'm keen to know if this has been resolved in the latest version as has been claimed. Anyone using the new version?

As a corollary, is RFI more of a problem with old prefixes (prefii?) than with internal boards? I've secured a Prefix K via a contact but haven't got it yet and I'm curious whether or not to have it sent on to Naim for the upgrade...

Dave,
I resolved most of my RFI problems with the prefix by routing the earth lead to a spare din on the supercap. Thereafter I would get a bit of what I believe to be Spanish radio breaking through. Since upgading to the new spec last December I've heard nothing.
Regards,
Willy.

In my experience the old Prefix is more vulnerable than the corresponding cards--probably the thinner case provides less shielding.

Eric,
That's interesting and would certainly dissuade me from buying an older unit. The last thing I want to do is make matters worse.
Willy,
Other than the reduction in RFI were there any other noticeable improvements?

Older Prefixes can be modified to cure/reduce the RF problems. It also gives improved sound quality as well, so even if you didn't have an RF problem before it is probably worthwhile. Phone your dealer or the Service dept at Naim for details - I think it costs about £80.

Will the upgrade of the Prefix change it's case?

Jun,
I've had mine done and it keeps the same case.
Sean.
