Hutter Slimline
Posted by: rod ayling on 18 April 2004
Hi,
Does anyone own a Hutter slimline unit and even better does anyone out there have a picture of the slimline unit.
I have checked on the website and none seems to exist.
Many thanks,
Rod

You can wait for 6 weeks then I can post a picture of mine
I found this somewhere else on the forum; system pics, I think.

Hi,Julian,
Thanks a million for that picture !
So you've got one on order, is it 6 weeks delivery time ?
The reason why I asked is, I'm trying to fit both a Fraim and the slimline Hutter in a very tight space. The Fraim will be for the more sensitive items and the Hutter for the power amps/power supplies. I currently use a 7 tier Hutter in the same colour.
Is the actual width 500 mm, on the website it says 456mm ?
Thanks once again and good luck with yours

Normally I think its up to 3 weeks delivery but I have ordered a special veneer to match my SBL's
The 500mm wide Hutter is 500mm overall and about 440mm wide inside the side cheeks.
I think the 456mm wide range is 456mm overall designed for Linn etc. The 500mm wide range is not on the Hutter website.
How high is your 7 tier rack? Do you have the hifi base? Can I see a picture of it please?
Cheers, Julian

Hi,Julian,
Unfortunately I don't have a digital camera and hence no pics, sadly.
My actual Hutter is a mighty 118 cm high and has 6 shelves and the bottom hi-fi base. In total with the CDS3 perched on the top, its total height is 126 cm.
My room is all about compromises and I don't have the room for two racks. Although I could go for a width and a half Hutter and it would just fit. Trouble is I would'nt have any room round the back to get my hands around . Its much easier, IMO, if you can see what you're doing with all those fiddly Din's and Burndys !
I'm desperate to own a Fraim (adore its looks as well), but the Fraim only has a top limit of 6 shelves, whereas I have 12 pieces of kit ! Basically I have 6 items for my two channel set up, 2 for the headline and four for AV. At the moment I have to stack on three levels of the Hutter, which is obviously not ideal. I would love seperate shelf space for each item . I've been offered a Fraim for a very good price and would love to take up the offer, but would be talking about millimetres if I could pull off a Fraim and Hutter slimline side by side. I need to find out more about the 456mm width Hutter and I have sent Armin Hutter an e-mail.
Otherwise I'll probably stick with my existing Hutter, which made a great sonic difference and looks very nice , if a bit too high.
Best wishes,
Rod

My system is as follows :-
CDS3,XPS2,252,S/CAP,300,300PS
AV2,145,200,DENON DVD 2200
HEADLINE/HICAP (GRADO RS1 )
Now you know why I need two racks ideally, although I can just about (except hi-cap )squeeze everything onto my skyscraper high Hutter rack.

Rod

Rod,
Wow, thanks for the info. I bet it sounds bloody amazing with kit like that - good for you!
Out of interest have you checked out Proac Lover's home-made rack?
Best regards,
JonR

Thanks for the compliment Jon , yes it does sound flippin' amazing, especially now as my 300 seems to be coming on strong. I just wish I had a bigger room (13x12 feet) to do it justice and allow the system to breathe. Oh and room for two Fraims would be nice as well.
Can I view the Proac rack on their website ?
Cheers,
Rod

Rod,
Think you've slightly got the wrong end of the proverbial, mate! Anyway, will send you a PT to explain what I mean.
