Nait5 + nap150 for two way-speakersystem
Posted by: Robbert on 15 April 2004
Is it usefull to up-grade my nait5 with an NAP150. Then i use the nait5 poweramp for the tweeter and the NAP150 for the woofer.
Is that an good combination or is it a less upgrade? and is the FC2 upgrade better?

Robbert,
FC 2 improves the sound of the Nait5 a lot. I bought mine to power both Nait5 and CD5. The difference was amazing.
Anayway, if you've got the money for it, I suggest that you try to sell your nait5 and buy NAC112 (if it is not too old, selling your Nait5 will pay the Nac112) + NAP150 + FC2 (to power NAC112)
As far as I'm concerned, I will probably apgrade my system with NAC112+NAP180, keeping the FC2 for both CD5 and NAC112.

Hi!
I just added a NAP200 to my Nait5 as a first step towards 202/200. MAJOR difference in bass and overall "tightness" (don“t now if this translates).
FC2 is a nice improvement to a Nait5, if a power amp is a better option or not depends if you are going to continue to upgrade or not...
Good Luck!

Robbert -
It seems to me that you are asking if it is possible/advisable to biamp using the amp in the Nait 5 and an external amp, such as a 150.
I don't know the answer, but hope that someone else will chime in.

I don't think bi-amping is possible without making a custom interconnect to split the signal.
It certainly is not recommended by Naim.
Buy an FC2 instead.
