Hay sorry Jedster but I just laugh too hard when I hear that song!

Hell, I love some of Elton John's stuuf.

As they say, never underestimate the bad taste of the public. Smile

Anything by Joni bloody Mitchell.

Or, if shit songs by favourite bands count, Wire's 'I should have known better.'

The only band that have never produced anything shit are Talking Heads. See? You can't think of aynthing can you?

PS Rash - can't believe you think Blondie's 'Rapture' is crap. It has a nice bassline. That brings me on to something that is shit but that I secretly, guiltily, quite like - Level 42's 'Hot Water'...

Beanie man:-Dude, lyrics "I wanna dude that will do me in his van" and "I wanna dude that will tie me to a fan"!!!!! that's one classy lady!!

I don't love the original but there's something specially awful about bad covers particularly when they're done by big name "artists"

And Joe90 - how can you say that about Ace of Spades? I'm serious...

To me, Madonna always looks like "the slut next door" and spends most of her video time practicing to look like a slut. Her cover of "American Pie" was execrable. I suppose if you live long enough someone will come along a ruin every personal favorite for a quick buck.

I rather liked 'Ace of Spades' and bought the LP when it first came out after a Top of the Pops appearance by the band. It had a certain raw energy. But the "wall of sound" was a bit monotonous without some contrast in level or content. A bit like me really. Big Grin

I had some hope that music from the Rap genre promised some socially aware attitudes with some interesting musical devcelopments, but last night I saw a video that consigned it all in the 'TOTAL AND COMPLETE SHITE' bin. Wink

It was a bunch of fellas, curiously all the same height, all wearing the same type of clothing (oversized basketball singlets, lots of crappy jewellery etc) twatting on about how tough they are, how many girls want them, how many times thay've got laid, and it really does suggest that none of the African-American music community are even remotely intelligent.
It also looks like the same video shot for every single band, The girls all have legs forever and huge cleavage (not that that's a bad thing in itself), and they're all dancing the same way.

How can anyone take this genre seriously???????

I thought Public enemy's and Ice Cube's music might herald a renaissance of the genre, but it's degenerated into a form lower that fetid, stinking garbage.

Sad.

In seeing people mention Christina as bubblegum pop... I totally agree... I never used to like her... Then I got together with my (now ex) girlfriend who forced me to listen to Christina... I actually think now that she is quite a talented woman (no Im not talking about the amount of flesh she shows in her videos)... The majority of her music I dont like, but there is the odd track that I really have to have up at a decent volume, and sit back and listen... A couple of tracks come to mind "Loving me for me" and "Get mine, Get yours"... Her voice isnt over-powering in these tracks and gives you a flavour of what her voice sounds when shes not trying to compete with Whitney Houston...
My worst ones would be:
- anything by Sean Paul
- anything by Shaggy (absolutely loathe everything by either one of them)
- any female rappers (except Lauryn Hill)
- The Darkness - I believe in a thing called love - what a load of shite
- And at the moment, anything that the now-ex-girlfriend liked... Mainly because it depresses me so much cos it reminds me of her... Heh hem... Sorry everyone at work is moaning because I havent talked about anything else for the last 2 weeks...
Cheers

Surprised this hasn't been mentioned already. The most annoying song ever.

That really is a totally crap song and with you reminding me of it, also made me think of another Gem of a crap song - "Zoooom" by Fat Larry's Band. Dreadful Mad

Computers are supposed to work on 1's and 0's - in other words "Yes" or "No" - why does mine frequently say "Maybe"?......

Careless Whisper is George Michael, not Wham!
Sussudio I loved at the time - a great memory thing!

Anyway, you're forgiven for hating Careless Whisper because you live in one the greatest places on earth Smile
(It doesn't happen to be Toronto does it?)

Blythe

thanks for the location compliment...I love it here. My work is on the other side of Lake Mac and when it's really hot the beach is about a minute's drive in the car, if there's breeze we can set a sail or if we're thirsty the Hunter Valley vineyards are less than an hour away.
Anyhow I'm off on Friday for some game fishing off Newcastle. Gosh life sucks
