A Good Feelin' to Know

One of the great things about having a record collection built up over 30 years or more is that you can find yourself listening to some odd things. Got a new cartridge today so going through the back catalogue and finding myself listening to A Good Feelin To Know by Poco. Haven't played it for years, more or less forgot I had it, and it's great.

Also had on
Moondance - which I though I hated - actually, not so bad
Ry Cooder's Paradise and Lunch
Maria McKee's 1st solo album
Kate and Anna McGarrigle
Workingman's Dead

Looks like the Stereolab, Tortoise and John Zorn records might be in for a rest. Hope it's a passing phase and not the beginning "they don't make'em like they used to" syndrome. Now, where is Can't Buy a Thrill....

OK, I know it's sad replying to your own post, but ...

what I was after sharing in my own inarticlate( deliberate mistaj=ke!), rambling way was:

what great, out of fashion, records have you got in the collection that you forget about and only dig out when you get a new pice of kit and then make realise that your taste has moved on since then?

After listening to Poco ( for christsakes!), tonight its been:
Happy Trails: Quicksilver Messenger Service - Gary Duncan's solo is so beautiful
The Allman Brothers: Live at Filmore East

This week I want to pick up The Liars cd and the new Tortoise.. some change from the stuff I loved aged 14 and now.
So,. what is lurking in the closet?

I'm with you on the Quicksilver. Very underrated album indeed. Tried a CD version once, but that sounded very thin and superficial. Fortunately I found a rather good vinyl copy a few years ago (Capitol ST-120).

Happy Trails!

Nice to know someone else has a few old Poco albums. GFTK was one of my favourites at the time, widely played by Whispering Bob in 1973. That and the eponymous Loggins and Messina LP, which has a killer drum intro for your LP12.

Friends - apparently Brian sang Busy Doin Nothin on one of his UK dates this year (not the one I went to). But he's back in July (Smile rerecorded?)

I haven't dusted off "The Captain and Me" but have had Little Feat on - Sailin Shoes and Dixie Chicken!!

Going backwards fast: hope my sexual politics don't regress or I'll be like some of the other 70's minded folks on the forum....
