LP12 servicing
Posted by: RoyleBlue on 19 April 2004
Anyone ever used the service dept. of Moorgates in Sheffield for have their LP12 serviced?

No but if it helps I took mine into the Sound Organisation in York (well its in Yorkshire!) last week and David there did a mighty fine job in servicing, Nirvana'ing and fitting a cartridge for me. It sounds wonderful now - recommend them as they really know their stuff and don't automatically try and sell you something expensive that you don't want!

Yes, wasn't happy for reasons I won't divulge. Audio Images just up the street are far better at setting up LP12s, I bought mine new from there and they really know their stuff, nice guys too.

I bought my Armageddon from SO in York. I was not impressed by them either.

Where do you live Royleblue?
Audio Images in Sheffield are good, I have dealt with them when they had a shop in Doncaster many years ago
SO in York are good but found after sales and home set up non existance
Rich C,
why did you go to SO when The Audio Room in Hedon is just up the road from you? They are the dealers I have used recently. very good

I know SO from way back and have just recently got to know a guy who knows them from when they were in London. He still lives in London but insists on taking his LP12 to York as David there is, he reckons, the best LP12 fettler in the UK. Which was good enough for me! Audio Room didn't really wanna know about my LP12 as it came with a Mission 774 arm with 2 cartridge tags that had come adrift which they said they couldn't solder back on - and York is nicer than Hedon anyway....
