This tweak actually works. So go for it. I went up to 4 layers. My son uses it now.

Buy small ball bearings and nuts. 1/4" dia is fine.

Look in your yellow pages for

a) bearing stockist
b) cycle shop.

You need 2 nuts per bearing.

Regards

Dodgy replica/airgun/crossbow type shops normally sell them as catapult ammunition.

right ikea corras then 1 set if 1/4 inch ball bearings and nuts then ikea chopping board the 1 more set of bearings and nuts and to top it off a 10mm slab of marble under the cdp.
sounded shite without the marble no pace very slow and muddled then put the second set of bb's and marble close to the edge of shelf bingo! what have i been missing this is awesome fast punchy dynamic deffo more musical.
i stripped it down to the corra's just to make sure i wasn't hearing things nope i sure was not.
in the context of my system a superb tweak.
even the boss (wife) thinks so.
the price all together is as follows
ikea corra's =£20
ikea chopping board =£5
40 nuts b+q £5.60
20 1/4 ball bearings bike shop =.50p
marble offcut =£5
total cost £36.10p some nuts and bearings left over.
now where is that amp.

Get NORDOST PULSAR POINTS.
Bearings&nuts are 2nd best.

If you can afford it, place PP's under all components, inc. speakers.
It's well worth it.

Not always. I tried Pulsar Points under my Sugden Masterclass CD player this week and it was awful. Much the most dramatic change with a support device I have ever heard. My daughter, who has no interest in hi-fi, came into the room and said "why has the music gone all blurry?".

BTW the Sugden is pretty damn close to my CDS2, and "only" cost 3K.

using DIY kits should consider that ANY brand, kind, size etc. of balls sound different. In my practice, I’ve tried 8 (eight) sets of 1/2 balls in my DIY Frame and the differences are terrible. As usual, you can never know which kind is the best, all you can do is “tuning” your present system. The best way to psychiatry.
