Warning about Tesco Broadband

Hi folks,
I just thought that I would pass on a warning to anyone who is thinking of going to Tesco.net Broadband. I had their Dial up connection for a couple of years and thought It was most succsessful, so when I decided to go for Broadband they were at the top of my list,Big Mistake. Apparently "Tesco.net dial up" is a different part of the company to "Tesco.net Broadband" and there is no communication between either of them, there are also about 8 differant call centers all over the country servicing them so each time you phone them up not only do you get a differant person answering the phone ,but a differant part of the country. So the trouble started when Tesco.net dial up disconnected me before Tesco.net Broadband had sent out the Broadband connection Password, so after sitting on the phone all day trying to get past the automatic answering service that gives you 5 options and then which ever one you choose connects you back to option one,I finally managed to get connected when someone at Tesco Customer Services[again a different department] made a correct educated guess at the pass word, only to find that the connection was so slow that I kept getting a "remote computer failed to respond" window. So back on the phone to them again.I then received a e-mail from them that informed me that they intended to remove £20 from my Bank account for the Broadband service [I hadn't had]and still no help, after a few more days the modem failed completly, they then agreed to cancel the contract, and refund the £20 to my account as I had not received the service they advertised, butit would take up to a month to do, they then even failed to put the canclation into operation. After finding out they had not cleared my line I contacted them again to find out that still nothing had been organised either the canclation of Broadband or refunding my £20.whilst all of this was going on I was still paying for the dial up connection one month in advance.
So now after two months of being off line, and even more grey hairs, I still don't know if my account has now been refunded, but at least I have managed to get rid of Tesco.net and still retain some semblance of sanity, I think!,
If there is anyone from Tesco participating in this Forum my advice to your Company would be to stick to selling CARROTS.

Proof yet again that you get what you pay for.

My BT Broadband probably costs me a lot more than Tesco's 'service'.

I'm happy.

Just to say I can recommend Nildram very highly. I have had excellent Broadband service from them since switching from a Freeserve dial-up about 6 months ago. They are at http://www.nildram.co.uk/ if you need to get connected.

In the end I signed up with a company call Supanet who came highly recommended by some computer Geek's/whizz kid's that I know.So far I'm pleased with both the service and the supply. The package is, 1Mb speed, anytime,no limits, help line[which most people on this forum will tell you I need]at national phone call rate, so no over charging for help when its needed, free modem etc, several e-mail addresses and web space for aprox £23 per month the only drawback that I can see is, it's a twelve month contract, so there would be the usual penalty clauses incured if you cancelled before the twelve months are up, but most BB supliers seem to do the same.
