The N.L.N. Massive's 4th meeting (a.k.a. the Midlands Riders...)
Hi,
The fourth N.L.N. gathering took place at David Coster’s place last Sarturday 29th January. For me the interesting thing about this gathering was the people that I had not met at previous listening sessions coupled with a different mixture of equipment. This brought a refreshing diversity to the music we heard to and the kit used to play it (David, will tell you about the kit).
• Tracks from the below list were played. As usual some stayed on longer than others and there was even some “air conducting” of the classical music....!

•Bebel Gilberto – Tanta tempo - CD
•Madeleine Peyroux – Careless love – CD
•Various - Verve Remixed – CD (you can also get the unmixed version if you don’t like DJ’s messing with classic Jazz tunes)
•Spyro Gyra – Morning dance – CD
•Maroon 5 – Songs about Jane – CD
•Various – A movie for daddy – Blue note vinyl
•Human League – All I ever wanted – CD single
•Mark Knopfler and Chet Atkins – Neck and neck – Vinyl
•Claudia Bruken – Love and a million other things – CD
•Easy allstars – Dub side of the moon – Vinyl (you can get it on CD)
•Sibelius - symphony number 5 – Herbert von Karajan – Vinyl (EMI/HMV concert classics)
•Various – Carnival (spicy flavour and exotic grooves set fire to Blue Note – Vinyl
•Michael Jackson – History book 1 – Vinyl
•Beethoven – Piano concertos 2 and 3 – Martha Argerich – Vinyl (Deutsche gramaphon)
•Roger Waters – Amused to death – CD
•St. Germain – Tourist – Vinyl

I think I got them all apart from the ones played before I arrived, please add them if you want to.

I've spotted a couple of missing ones

•Mr Scruff – Trouser Jazz – CD (take note Roger H)
•Kosheen – Resist – CD
•Missy misdemeanor elliot - Da real world - CD

Enjoy!

And finally... A big thank you to David for hosting the evening and laying on some great food and drink!

Hi Andy,

Yes we missed you on Saturday. I must admit that I felt a bit miffed at having to miss Roger H's session.

Check out the playlist again I have added some other that we played. In particular Roger H loved the Trouser Jazz by Mr. Scruff.

See you soon. I will begin negotiations with Janie regarding our event.

Ernie.

Andy,
It was sad that you could not join us, we really must arrange to meet up. It was a really good evening. Thanks must be extended to Ernie for diligently compiling the music list again.

The system comprised of:-
lp12, aro, Armageddon, 17DII Ear 834P
Burmester 006 CD Player
Nat 02
Home made pre amp and Linn Klimax Pre
Linn Klimax Mono's
Naim SBL's
Linn silver interconnects and naim speaker cable.

The main electronics are on isoblue and the lp12 is on mana

Peter of Cymbiosis fame was doing evil things in terms of bringing the Klimax pre round. It added an awful lot to the system though.

I think that the most important upgrade for my system though is a new listening room. I think that I the guys were generally appalled at the standards of construction of my new house. The walls sing along in with the music. Quite grim really. Never mind moving house is on the agenda.
