What's with the new craze for username downsizing?

Posted by: Steve Toy on 17 October 2004

Alexgerrard became AlexG, and only in the last couple of days, Ludwig and Matthew Robinson have become Ludders and Matthewr respectively.

Right, I want to be Steve Toy. That way nobody is going to (accidentally) misspell my first name as Stephen.

Regards,

Steve.

"Steve Toy" is so last year. You need a sexy little stud name like "Fastlane" or "Quickshift!".

PS- I actually added one letter.

Ok Stetters. Got that.

I Can't be Steve T as that particular nom-de-plume belongs to my mate from Tamworth - from whom I bought my Densen B300XS two years ago.

If you've been following the latest driving threads you'll appreciate that I don't believe in the "fast lane," and quick-shifting isn't going to give you a long-life gearbox.

In any case, your suggestions will leave me sounding like some kind of 70s pornstar like "Stallion."

Regards,

Steve.

Ludders is still a diminuative of Ludwig even with one extra letter.

Steve.

I am not down with this rugby boy 'ludders' thing, it is a bit Dwayne Benzey. Ludd-dawg, MC Luddite, or maybe just 'The Ludd'. Yeah, see how it plays with your aim buddies:

quote:

Toy boi: Yo yo yo
Ludders: Werd
Toy boi: Yo lud, whatta gwan?
Ludders: A-yo, it's 'The Ludd', seen?

Still my favourite Narnia parody. "The Horse and His Toy."

I've had the Rebranding Consultants in and for a mere £3.2m they suggested I "horizantalize my brand presence in all hi-fi fora with a fresh new 05 brand dervived from core aspects of both naming elements constiuent in, quote unquote, Matthew Robinson, rendered with a fashionable disregard for capilisation and spaces to capture that all important 18-25 demographic." Please note that when reading my posts from now on you all have to change your browser fonts to Verdana or you'll be hearing from my Trademark laywers.

Also I am being stalked by a sock burning mentalist ex-girlfriend and wish to keep a lower profile.

Downgrading is so last year, folks. I've had my username upgraded some time ago from MarkusS to its present splendour. All it takes is a polite request to the mods.

Wonders what he could downsize to?

"n" or "b"

I liked 'throbnorth'. Seemed sort of, well, you know.

Ludwig to ludders? Seems sort of musical genius to cow tits.

Matthew Robinson to matthewr - seems a transition from a nice member of a shipwrecked swiss family to a guy who gets his socks burned.

There's one on PFM called konteebos which, for some of the scots amongst us is near genius.

I still like Throbnorth, but as it's taken I'll go for shrinksouth.

cheers

Being caught in the Padded Cell can I change to "6"?
Posted on: 18 October 2004 by HTK
HTK is what my mates call me. But since none of them come on here I'd quite like to decloak. How do you make the change? Like Tom, mine isn't editable. Or is it?

Cheers

Harry, like I said above, send a PM to the mods and they will oblige.

If I understand this correctly, the diy username change facility was taken away after some people changed their usernames to commemorations of a banned member. They are now stuck with those names which today look a tiny bit silly.

If enough people ask for their name changed, either the mods will get annoyed/bored and refuse to do any changes anymore, or they will reinstate the diy facility.

Mods,

I'm being serious. Please change my username to Steve Toy.

Steve.

Stephen,

You might want to PM them.
Posted on: 18 October 2004 by Tarquin Maynard - Portly
I agree, Steph: email is delivered, pm's have to be sought out.

I think I might change my name to either:

a) SN 02 KXS - I will then have a personalised number plate
b) The Most Exalted Potentate of Decadence Lord Klaatu Veraata the Magnificent, Destroyer of Worlds
c) Brian.

Not sure which.

Mike

Matthew (sorry, old habits die hard),

Verdana? I had you pegged as a "Bauhaus light" kind of remarket -- you know, one of those fonts that's both retro and modern to help pull in the essential what-am-I-going-to-do-with-my-life demographic.

Not sure about that Joe, "Bahaus" sounds a bit Goth. to me. I wouldn't want to attract the sort of people who hang around cemetaries drinking cider/warm blood.

Matthew,

Hmmm, how 'bout Bernhard Fashion then? The "W" in
"Matthew" would look way cool.

Joe

Joe -- Hmm. Looks a bit 1920s to me.

Patrick -- I'm not sure why you suddenly feel the need to be insulting, but I'd appreciate it if you didn't.

What goes around...

Once upon a time, many of us were excoriated by a certain VV (and half the forum) for not using our so-called "Real Names".

Glad to see minimalism's coming back.
